In John 15:9-17 we learned that the Love of Christ is all we need, but in this passage Christ reminds us that the world will not be the source of that love ... in fact, the world treated Jesus with hate, His first Apostles with hate... why should it treat you and I any differently. but there is a blessing in it when the world hates us for Christ's sake.

We can be steady and sure when the world seems uncertain because we know that the systems and powers of this world are in God’s hand.

Denying Jesus - John 18:15-18; 25-27

At the same time as Jesus was on trial before His enemies, Peter was going through his own kind of trial... would he stand up for Jesus, or would he falter and deny Him. In our passage today, we learn some important things about what leads us to deny Jesus in the first place, how to avoid it. But most importantly we learn how God deals with us when we do fail. Even when we do sin and deny Christ, God’s not done with us. He will restore us if we turn back to Him in genuine love and obedience.

John 18 Truth on Trial

What is Truth? and how do we talk about the ultimate Truth in a culture that increasingly rejects the notion of truth? In our text, Jesus is confronted with two groups of people who are either ignorant of the truth, or are downright opposed to it. We learn from their tactics and Jesus reaction. We must be prepared to declare the Truth of the Gospel with boldness and gentleness - and leave the results to God.
