"Expect the Unexpected" - Heb 11:30-35
In 6 verses the author of Hebrews spans about 1000 years of Hebrew history! We start with Joshua and the conquest of Jericho and go as far as Daniel!
In fact, there are so many "faith stories" that the author just begins to mention names -- names his audience would have known, but that are more obscure for us.
What do a gang leader, a prostitute, a coward, and a runt have in common? They, by flawed faith, all overcome their weaknesses, and against all [human] odds they obtain great victories. Or, more accurately, are instruments through whom God conquers!
When you begin to understand that God uses the foolish things of the world, you can begin to expect the unexpected. When you see the lives of the people, and the stories that read just like ours, you will be encouraged! We will all scratch our heads and wonder, "How did a guy like Samson get included in a list of men of great faith!"
If you want to see just how much God can do with so little faith, and who is Jepthah anyway, and, yea, how did Samson make the list, then......
....COME and SEE!!!
