Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Chapter 4 of Romans. He touched on Condemnation that came through the Law, and the power of God's Word to save through freedom in Christ, and His finished work on the Cross. Tonight we continue in the section of scripture where Paul points out justification by faith comes in trusting in Jesus and the qualities of true saving faith.

Righteousness can only come from Jesus, and His finished work, not being a deed keeper or religion— to be made right with God, we need to be reconciled to Him through Jesus... It's a gift, and not earned.

Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'. So if he shared the Gospel there, whomever received it would carry God's Word, and the testimonies of Paul and the work they'd seen done out into the four corners of the world.

Often referred to as the Gospel according to Paul, and the greatest book ever written, Paul's letter to the Romans will become our focus as Pastor Phil continues to lead us through the Word of God.

In Romans 6 we learn that because of the finished work on the Cross that sin no longer has ahold of us. That we've been free from the power of sin and death! Does that mean that because grace abounds we should sin more because it's covered? Absolutely not! Because of this freedom we should want to live more for Him! In Romans, Chapters 3-5 we learn that we are free from the penalty of sin. The theme was Justification (salvation)—as a Christian this refers to my position before God—the emphasis here is on being. Now, in Romans Chapters 6-8 we will learn that we are free from the power of sin.
