69. Romans 7:18-25 | Final
Calvary Chapel Elk Grove
Pastor Phil Ballmaier
10-30-24
Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Romans, Chapter 7. In Romans 6 through Romans 8 we learn that because of the finished work on the Cross—sin no longer has ahold of us. That we are dead TO sin because of the finished work of Jesus, whereas before we were saved we were dead IN sin.
Pastor Phil addresses "self". While the world says, 'one must love oneself', or “You can’t love others until you love yourself”—this is direct opposition to what Jesus said... He calls us to die to self. So let's examine what God calls us to do as believers. In Romans Chapter 7, Paul continues to bring home the point of what the sanctification process is in a believer.
***
Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'. So if he shared the Gospel there, whomever received it would carry God's Word, and the testimonies of Paul and the work they'd seen done out into the four corners of the world.
Often referred to as the Gospel according to Paul, and the greatest book ever written, Paul's letter to the Romans will become our focus as Pastor Phil continues to lead us through the Word of God.

60. Romans 6:11-12 (8-14-24) | Final
August 14, 2024 • Romans 6:11–12
60. Romans 6:11-12 | Final
Calvary Chapel Elk Grove
Pastor Phil Ballmaier
8-14-24
Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Romans, Chapter 6. In Romans 6 through Romans 8 we learn that because of the finished work on the Cross—sin no longer has ahold of us. That we've been set free from the power of sin and death! Paul teaches the keys to overcoming sin and our fallen sin nature we must follow 4 principles:
1. Know (vs. 3-10)
2. Reckon (vs. 11-12)
3. Present (vs. 13-19)
4. Obey (verses 16-17)
We'll continue to explore these keys to victory as we continue through Romans 6. This is all a part of the sanctification process as a believer, for His glory and kingdom.

Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Romans, Chapter 6. In Romans 6 we learn that because of the finished work on the Cross that sin no longer has ahold of us. That we've been free from the power of sin and death! Does that mean that because grace abounds we should sin more because it's covered? Absolutely not! Because of this freedom we should want to live more for Him!
In Romans, Chapters 3-5 we learn that we are free from the penalty of sin. The theme was Justification (salvation)—as a Christian this refers to my position before God—the emphasis here is on being.
Now, in Romans Chapters 6-8 we will learn that we are free from the power of sin. The theme we'll see through these chapters is Sanctification—this refers to my practice for God—the emphasis here is on doing.
