Divine Order, Divine Life, Part 2

November 26, 1980 • Pastor Star R. Scott

Romans, Chapter 13, verse 1, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation." Now, do you see why I wanted you all to obey tonight? Amen? There's a good reason right off the bat, amen? You see, you have to realize since I am teaching here tonight I'm in power. I'm in authority. I'm standing in the place of God tonight. You resist me, you're resisting God. So just think, instead of tomorrow having damnation come on you, you can sit down and enjoy a good turkey. Amen. You say, "Aw, man, it doesn't work like that." Yes, it does. You'd be surprised how it works. By the time we're through you'll find out that God views His designated men in authority as Himself on the face of this earth.

It has to do with being subject to powers and to authorities as you would to God. That's why the apostle Paul said, "The words that are coming to you, these aren't the words of men. Accept them for what they are. In fact, this is the Word of God." If we would attend more meetings and realize that it's God talking to us and not some man we would be able to receive deliverance in our lives. We'd be able to receive direction in our lives, many times, and the supernatural counsel of God would keep us out of a lot of trouble. Father is trying to talk to us. He wants to bring the Word of God to us purely. As we get into this study, and we'll probably be in this thing ten or twelve weeks, so you can't make any judgments until we're done, just keep receiving it in as we go through it. You'll find out that-those of you that have been around awhile-we try not to leave any bases untouched. We'll approach it from every area. We understand here that He's trying to encourage us in the area of submission and in trusting the ordinances that He has set up....
