The Armor Of God

Equipped For Battle

01 - Belt Of Truth

Ephesians 6:10-18 • January 7, 2018 • Pastor Ronald H. Gann

How can Christians protect themselves from Satan (and everything else a decadent world throws at them) and still emerge victorious? What is a believer's best defense? The answer lies in divine protection known as The Armor Of God. As soldiers under God’s command, Christians are expected to put on God’s battle gear daily in their fight against the devil. Without it, they are vulnerable to attack and ill-equipped to fight. From the breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation, and the shield of faith to the sword of the Spirit, shoes of readiness, and the belt of truth, Pastor Ronald H. Gann expounds upon each piece of armor in this sermon series meant to equip believers for battle!

02 - Breastplate Of Righteousness

Ephesians 6:10-18 • January 14, 2018 • Pastor Ronald H. Gann

In our battle against sin and Satan, Paul instructs us to put on the breastplate of righteousness. In other words, as soldiers under command, we are to dress ourselves in the imputed righteousness of Christ by which we are justified before God (2 Cor. 5:21) and the ethical righteousness that we practice by which we are authenticated before the world (James 2:14–26). The former enables us to keep fighting after we fall, confident that God has covered our failures. The latter makes us better able to resist the sins that would detract us from efficiency and effectiveness in our mission. From the breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation, and the shield of faith to the sword of the Spirit, shoes of readiness, and the belt of truth, Pastor Ronald H. Gann expounds upon each piece of armor in this sermon series meant to equip believers for battle!

03 - Shoes Of Readiness (Gospel of Peace)

Ephesians 6:10-18 • January 21, 2018 • Pastor Ronald H. Gann

Four times in Ephesians 6 (vv.11-14), Paul declared that the purpose of the Armor of God lies in its ability to help us "stand"--that is, to "stand against the devil's schemes," to "stand [our] ground," and to "stand firm." And of course, no armor would be complete without the necessary shoes by which to make such a stand-which Paul identified as "the readiness" or "preparation" of the "gospel of peace." God equips us, as believers, with the ability to stand firm in the face of trouble; to plant our feet on a firm foundation and yet move quickly to share the gospel of peace with others. From the breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation, and the shield of faith to the sword of the Spirit, shoes of readiness, and the belt of truth, Pastor Ronald H. Gann expounds upon each piece of armor in this sermon series meant to equip believers for battle!

04 - Shield Of Faith

Ephesians 6:10-18 • January 28, 2018 • Pastor Ronald H. Gann

Satan's attacks can sometimes cause believers to doubt God and question His Word. But faith prompts us to believe God, and to trust in Him even when the circumstances deem it illogical or foolish to do so. When Satan attempts to sidetrack us with doubt and skepticism, faith recognizes the deceptiveness of his tactics and quickly steers us back on track. When Satan accuses us, faith exonerates us. It is faith, then, that is our protective barrier from the scheming arrows of Satan. Simply put, when we take up the shield of faith we become conquerors in Christ. From the breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation, and the shield of faith to the sword of the Spirit, shoes of readiness, and the belt of truth, Pastor Ronald H. Gann expounds upon each piece of armor in this sermon series meant to equip believers for battle!

05 - Helmet Of Salvation

Ephesians 6:10-18 • February 4, 2018 • Pastor Ronald H. Gann

There are few things more dangerous to the powers of darkness that a Christian who has the joy of their salvation. The enemy knows that a Christian who has such joy and confidence is a Christian who cannot be rattled on the battlefield. Maintaining the joy of salvation is so important to believers, in fact, that Paul includes it on the list of armor that is essential for effective Christian soldiering. Referred to as the Helmet of Salvation, it is specifically meant to protect believers from doubting their identity in Christ and instill in them an unshakable confidence. From the breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation, and the shield of faith to the sword of the Spirit, shoes of readiness, and the belt of truth, Pastor Ronald H. Gann expounds upon each piece of armor in this sermon series meant to equip believers for battle!

06 - Sword Of The Spirit

Ephesians 6:10-18 • February 11, 2018 • Pastor Ronald H. Gann

The Sword of the Spirit--the Word of God--is designed specifically for, and serves no other purpose than, going on the offensive and taking the fight directly to the enemy. A combatant doesn't use a sword to deflect arrows, prevent spearing, or as a shield. Rather, he uses a sword to proactively and offensively inflict damage. If for no other reason, then, the Sword of the Spirit is the most vital part of a Christian’s armor. Even if we have all the rest of the armor equipped perfectly, without the sword of God's Word, we amount to little more than heavily fortified moving targets. From the breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation, and the shield of faith to the sword of the Spirit, shoes of readiness, and the belt of truth, Pastor Ronald H. Gann expounds upon each piece of armor in this sermon series meant to equip believers for battle!
