Celebrating God's Love

As we celebrate graduation Sunday today I would encourage you to do three things. First, rejoice with those who rejoice. Those that are on stage today you may know really well or not at all. Either way, we know they are celebrating what God has done and how He has led them to this point in their life. Celebrate well with them.

Second, commit to pray or to continue to pray for them. Even as you see them on stage and hear about them, pray right then and there. Third, as we look into Psalms 139 remember that while the message has the graduates in mind, it is not specifically for them. It is for each person in the room and on-line.

So engage, stand in awe as we consider God’s indescribable love for us, and our response to him.

A Song of Perspective

So much in life comes down to perspective and perspective is shaped by one's worldview, desires, fears, aspirations, and examples. The result of these things, in practical terms, is that the facts are often not what matter most to people. What matters most is how a person is choosing to see those facts. Therefore, it's our perspective, not the raw facts, that inform our attitudes and actions. This week we're going to consider a song of perspective. It is our prayer that your perspective will shift to see all of life through the glory and power of our awesome God.

A Song of Passion

Google estimates that there have been over 100 million love songs throughout history and across cultures. Most creatures are wired for safety. Human beings have undeniably been wired for love. The reason for that is because we have been made in the image of our God who the Bible says is love (1 Jn 4). The emotional pursuit of love often gives rise to various passions or strong desires. These passions can be godly or sinful depending on what, why, and how we're loving what we choose to love. This week we will consider a song of passion that calls us to love God with our whole heart.

A Song of Brokenness

We live in a culture where broken things have very little value. We've all had possessions that, at one time, we loved but as soon as it was broken we just tossed it away. As Christ-followers, we ought to be very thankful that our God doesn't look upon broken people like that. In fact, our God highly values a spirit of brokenness in His people. Biblical brokenness is an attitude that feels the weight of sin, the weight of the Gospel, and our desperate need for the grace and mercy of God. It is to be the normal state of being for all who would follow Jesus. This week we will learn to sing a song of brokenness.
