A Song of Self-Abandonment

June 16, 2024 • Pastor Doug Forman • Psalm 31, 2 Samuel 16:20–22

Relationships with other people are meant to be mutually affirming and God-honoring on the one hand, but they can be tricky to navigate and sometimes short-lived on the other.

As Christians we also have to face the reality that a Biblical worldview is increasingly held by fewer and fewer people in our culture and if you live your values, you face the real possibility of being ostracized and even rejected by others. The question becomes what do you do when people abandon you?

The answer is to lose your “self” in Christ and, in doing so, truly find your purpose, security, and value. People may like you or reject you but the love of God remains the same yesterday, today and forever.
