Vows, Values and Redemption

Vows were not commanded by the Law of YeHoVaH, but were made by individuals who wanted to do something over and beyond what was required by YeHoVaH in exchange for something. Typically, vows were made to dedicate or devote someone or something of value to the service of YeHoVaH. In this final chapter of Leviticus, YeHoVaH gives Instructions for the vow being made, the value of the person or the thing that is vowed, and the process for redeeming that which had been vowed. The Blessings of Obeying the Law

The Law and Gentiles

Is the Law only for the Jews? Are the Gentiles required to keep the Law? Who would be classified as a Gentile according to the Torah? The Day of Thanksgiving and the Bible

For Americans, Thanksgiving is a special, beloved holiday for eating turkey - or a vegetarian main course option - and spending time with family and friends. Both the religious communities and non-religious communities alike celebrate the day of Thanksgiving which generates debate over its religious associations. However, for others, the celebration is deeply controversial. Thanksgiving has a contentious history that goes far beyond when the first feast was held. Like Columbus Day, the holiday is viewed by many to be a celebration of the conquest of Native Americans by colonists. Thanksgiving is considered by some to be a national day of mourning. Biblically, there are Holy Days that are to be observed which were given to us by YeHoVaH through Moses. If one chooses to celebrate Thanksgiving, do so knowing it is not Biblically mandated or required by YeHoVaH. The Holy and the Profane

YeHoVaH’s dealings with His Creation had much to do with their response to Him and His Commandments. The Holiness of Our Father, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, and King of the Universe was established from the creation of man and reaffirmed amongst the Children of Israel. To guarantee, honor, and keep the presence of the Most High in their midst, the people of Israel and the Priests were to be holy and not profane or defile themselves. In this portion of Leviticus, YeHoVaH further instructs the people and the Priests how to maintain differences between the holy and profane. A Holy Priesthood

Is there a connection between the Priesthood of Aaron, the Priesthood of Melchizedek and the Priesthood of Messiah? The Aaronic Priesthood left no objection to those who were born in the family of Aaron. A Priest was born into the Priesthood and therefore subject to the service thereof per YeHoVaH’s Instructions. The Death Penalty

YeHoVaH called His people to be a Holy people as He is a Holy God. The Laws they were given were for His Holy, set apart people to live Holy unto YeHoVaH! The grace of YeHoVaH took into account that man was a fallen creature with immoral tendencies, so His Laws contained Ordinances, Statutes, and Judgments for certain behaviors. However, for some behaviors, the death penalty was required. In this portion of Leviticus, we will examine certain sins that resulted in the death of the offender.
