Family Is Complicated
Behold, Your Savior
December 5, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Clark • Genesis 44, Genesis 45
At long last, Joseph is reunited with his brothers in forgiveness and reconciliation. What can this moment teach us about God’s posture towards us in Christ? May we answer his call to come near and to dwell with him.
Mercy to Merriment
November 28, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Clark • Genesis 43
Joseph’s brothers approach him with fear, uncertainty, and doubt, unsure of what will meet them. They are surprised, amazed even, at the grace, mercy, and feasting they find instead of the wrath they were sure would meet them. How do we approach the throne of grace? In uncertainty or with confidence?
The Famine, Without and Within
November 21, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Clark • Genesis 42
As the famine descends up on the land, Jacob sends his sons to Egypt to obtain grain. When they reach their destination, their lives and hearts are confronted, revealing hearts still racked with guilt and shame. The famine without presses in and reveals their famine within. When life does the same to us, will we turn to the one who truly satisfies?
A Sermon for the Stuck
October 31, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Clark • Genesis 40
There are few more frustrating and discouraging experiences than that of feeling stuck. Whether it’s a season of hardship, a hard place, or anything else, our human instinct is to get free, to move forward as quickly as we can. But what if getting out of this prison isn’t possible? Is there hope, purpose, and joy for us in Jesus, even in our stuck seasons?
The Better Way IV: Do You Hope In Him?
August 29, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Clark • Genesis 35:16–29, Genesis 36
This world brings pain, loss, and emptiness - so how do we walk as the redeemed in such a broken place? We must embrace, fully, the truest hope of Jesus - a hope that will not put us to shame, but a hope that will be borne as we surrender our lives to our Heavenly Father through Christ.
The Better Way III: Do You Hear Your Name?
August 22, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Clark • Genesis 35:1–15
Sometimes we need to revitalize our faith: we know who God is and what he has done for us, but we find ourselves in a season of apathy or sorrow, stuck and unable to shake ourselves loose. God is there with us, and invites us to return to our first love, remember his faithfulness, and receive our truer names, given to us by Him.
The Better Way: Do You Trust His Ways?
August 15, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Clark • Genesis 34
As we look out at the world, it is only natural for us to grieve the injustice rampant everywhere. How do we walk as redeemed people in the midst of an unjust world? How do we walk the line between passive indifference and frenzied vengeance? We look together at Jesus, who has made a way for all of us, in our inadequacies and failures, to be reconciled, forgiven, and freed.
The Better Way: Do You Walk His Path?
August 8, 2021 • Pastor Andrew Clark • Genesis 33:12–20
It’s no secret: though there is great joy, love, and peace found in Christ, living out allegiance in this devotion is a challenge in this world. All of us wrestle with choosing God’s way over the world’s way. The question we must all ask ourselves today, in light of what God has done for us, is this: are we on the way that leads to life or death? It’s never too late to put the cross before us and follow God in the better way.
Are You Afraid to Raise the White Flag?
July 25, 2021 • Pastor Allen Coleman
Surrender is not a favored American ideology. But it is a Biblical one. Surrender is the requisite posture to fully realize the promises of God and to fully experience the joy of those promises. However, with surrender comes a lot of fear. Pastor Allen reminds us that fear is the enemy of surrender on our path to raising the white flag of our hearts.
Know Yourself
July 18, 2021 • Pastor Allen Coleman
How much do you want to know yourself? How well do you know your desires? To do so is to expose otherwise, seemingly good desires, to the process and motives which may disqualify them. Here's the catch: that's exactly what you're going to have to do to be fully satisfied in this life. So are you ready for the test?
