Joseph’s brothers approach him with fear, uncertainty, and doubt, unsure of what will meet them. They are surprised, amazed even, at the grace, mercy, and feasting they find instead of the wrath they were sure would meet them. How do we approach the throne of grace? In uncertainty or with confidence?

When they reach their destination, their lives and hearts are confronted, revealing hearts still racked with guilt and shame. The famine without presses in and reveals their famine within.
