It's Time - Cape Town
Saturday (March 24, 2018) was an extraordinary day as possibly the biggest crowd ever seen at an event in Cape Town gathered to pray on an open space in Mitchells Plain. The peace of God was tangible at the Swartklip Sports Ground prayer venue and on the surrounding streets which are notorious for gang violence and where people had predicted there would be trouble as there had been at other events at the same venue. And, in one of many signs of God’s goodness and favour on the day, soft rain began to fall as the crowd began to worship — to be followed by several more gentle showers that were appreciated in the drought-stricken area. But the most extraordinary scene of all began when farmer evangelist Angus Buchan, who led the prayer time, called on gang leaders present to come to the front to “exchange that gun for a Bible”. There was a nervous hush as Buchan repeated the unusual altar call after leading the crowd estimated at more than 150 000 in a prayer of salvation. As the worship team sang Buchan continued to urge gang leaders to come forward. At last one man came forward — then another — and another — until about a dozen men, and two older women — one a Christian worker and the other a mother of one of the men — stood in front of the platform. Descending from the platform to stand with the gang leaders, Buchan said he was going to do what God had showed him in a dream. He said the Lord had impressed on him that the gang leaders were leaders — they were just going in the wrong direction — and that He wanted to use them in His kingdom.
Faith Like Potatoes: Trailer
"Angus Buchan is a straight-talking South African farmer of Scottish extraction. His abrupt conversion startled the friends of this explosive, hard-drinking man. Angus’s bold faith has carried him through droughts, family tragedies, and financial crisis. He has seen wonderful miracles of provision and healing. In obedience to God’s call he started preaching, which led into a healing ministry. He has also set up an AIDS orphanage and a 500-seat auditorium on his land. Still a farmer, he is now an international evangelist, traveling through Africa in a refitted yellow fire engine, and filling the largest venues in South Africa. Faith Like Potatoes has now been made into a feature film distributed in North America by Sony, and this new film edition of the book includes color stills from the film." - Amazon
Ordinary People: Trailer
April 4, 2016
Angus Buchan’s Ordinary People is a 2012 South African drama film that tells the story of South African preacher and potato farmer Angus Buchan and the intertwining stories of three men en route to one of Buchan’s Mighty Men Conferences, where hundreds of thousands of men gather to listen to Buchan’s messages. The film was directed by South African director FC Hamman and stars Buchan appearing as himself, as well as Anton Dekker, Jaco Muller, Lucky Koza, David James, Kate Normington, Robin Smith and Norman Anstey. The film begins with Angus Buchan’s story, a child dreaming of becoming a preacher and showing how his preaching audience grew from a few men in a field in 1979, to audiences of some 300,000 at his Mighty Men Conferences in 2010. Along the way, Buchan deals with personal difficulties of his own. The story then shifts to three parallel stories, based on real characters and astonishing real-life events. In these stories, one way or another, the men make their way to a Mighty Men Conference where their lives are forever changed after experiencing the life-changing preaching from God’s incredible vessel, Angus Buchan.
November 19, 2016 • Angus Buchan
On November 19th 2016, Angus Buchan called a Sacred Assembly to all Christians in South Africa as he felt instructed by the lord earlier this year. In an interview, Mr Buchan said, "We believe God has given to the Believers in South Africa a commandment and a mandate to gather together in one place, at one time and to repent (say sorry), so that Jesus can heal this land." So on the Saturday the 19th of November at the largest stadium in South Africa, people from every walk of life came; men, women, old and young, ministers, farmers, sportsmen, housewives, old age pensioners, school teachers, shop keepers, students, businessmen, politicians, the widow and the orphan, the unemployed, miners and fishermen. Yes indeed, the whosoever gathered together before the Lord as a Nation to petition Almighty God to intervene on behalf of His people who are in a desperate situation, fast becoming the laughing stock of the world!. This is the broadcast from that day.
