Transcript: We live in an instant culture that does not like to wait. Yet Scripture often calls us to wait for the Lord. How does this apply to our lives today? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Psalm 24:14 teaches us to, “be strong, and let your hearts wait for the Lord!” The context of the Psalm was a response to pain and to overwhelming enemies. When we face challenges in life that we cannot control, we don’t give up. We look up to the One who can save us. In the New Testament, the apostle Paul calls us to encourage one another with the words of Christ’s any-moment coming. Patience does not equal passivity. Waiting for the Lord includes active obedience, knowing we must do all we can before His return as we seek to hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Transcript: How do we know when God is calling us to do something specific? It’s one of the most common questions I face in talking with people about spiritual issues. In John 10, Jesus used the illustration of sheep following the voice of their shepherd. The sheep will not follow the voice of a hired worker. They do recognize though the voice of the True Shepherd. If we want to know when God is leading us to make a certain decision, we must learn to recognize His voice and avoid deception. How can we do this? By regularly spending time in the Bible. Transcript: A woman once found an abandoned puppy on the side of the road. Stopping to help, she took the pup home and nurtured it back to health. But she discovered the puppy was not what she expected. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. When the woman took the pup to a vet, she discovered it was really a young wolf! The story reminded me of the apostle Paul’s warning in 2 Thessalonians 2:3: “Let no one deceive you.” How can we avoid being deceived in our spiritual lives? Verse 15 adds that we are to “stand firm” on God’s truth, knowing His Word will never mislead us. If you’re uncertain regarding a decision you face today, look to Scripture for the Lord’s guidance for your situation. Transcript: Walking is a normal activity for most people, but taking steps along a rocky trail adds a level of complication that can cause us to stumble. God’s Word reveals a similar concern regarding our spiritual lives. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Psalm 73:2 says “my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped.” Why? The psalmist wrote, “For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.” When the ungodly seem successful, it’s tempting to stray from God’s path to join them. If we want our journey to please God, we must keep our feet focused on His way for our lives, knowing that the obstacles we see are temporary, but the decisions we make today are eternal.
