Transcript: Why has God left us in this world as believers? It’s because He has a plan for us, one that can impact all eternity. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. If our only purpose in life was to believe in Jesus, there would be no reason for us to remain after our salvation. So why has Christ yet to return? 1 Peter 3:15 teaches we are to, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have.” Our primary mission in this life is the Great Commission, making disciples of all nations. We are to witness while we wait for Christ’s coming. We cannot give up or back down. Instead, we must be bold in proclaiming His salvation. Transcript: How do we know when God is calling us to do something specific? It’s one of the most common questions I face in talking with people about spiritual issues. In John 10, Jesus used the illustration of sheep following the voice of their shepherd. The sheep will not follow the voice of a hired worker. They do recognize though the voice of the True Shepherd. If we want to know when God is leading us to make a certain decision, we must learn to recognize His voice and avoid deception. How can we do this? By regularly spending time in the Bible. God will never lead us to act in opposition to Scripture, only consistent with the teachings of His perfect Word. Spend time listening to His voice today. Transcript: A woman once found an abandoned puppy on the side of the road. Stopping to help, she took the pup home and nurtured it back to health. But she discovered the puppy was not what she expected. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. When the woman took the pup to a vet, she discovered it was really a young wolf! The story reminded me of the apostle Paul’s warning in 2 Thessalonians 2:3: “Let no one deceive you.” How can we avoid being deceived in our spiritual lives? Verse 15 adds that we are to “stand firm” on God’s truth, knowing His Word will never mislead us. If you’re uncertain regarding a decision you face today, look to Scripture for the Lord’s guidance for your situation. Transcript: Walking is a normal activity for most people, but taking steps along a rocky trail adds a level of complication that can cause us to stumble. God’s Word reveals a similar concern regarding our spiritual lives. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Psalm 73:2 says “my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped.” Why? The psalmist wrote, “For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.” When the ungodly seem successful, it’s tempting to stray from God’s path to join them. If we want our journey to please God, we must keep our feet focused on His way for our lives, knowing that the obstacles we see are temporary, but the decisions we make today are eternal.
