Faithwork Assignment: Take time to honestly identify the habits or "false refreshments" in life that promise relief but leave you feeling drained. Confess these specific areas to God, trusting fully in His grace and forgiveness. Make a concrete decision to "turn from" these behaviors by removing the temptation and "turn toward" God through prayer or Scripture. Remember that true spiritual revival begins with this deliberate choice to course-correct and seek Him.

Adult Education Replay | Allentown Food Pantry

Adult Education Series: Serving our Neighbors in Peril
Week 2: APC Food Pantry
Leaders: Beth Rigby and Ron Stouffer
When a man asks Jesus about the way to attain eternal life, Jesus turns the question back to him. The man answers, quoting the scriptures, to love God and love your neighbor. “You have given the right answer,” says Jesus, “Do this, and you will live" (Luke 10:28). We at APC seek to follow Jesus' command to "do this" by ministering in creative ways to neighbors struggling with life’s most basic needs: food, housing, and health. Join us for a seven week adult education course to learn about some of our missions and ministries that serve these neighbors. We will meet Sundays 9:45-10:45 am in Schulte Hall, beginning January 4 with a biblical-theological overview by our pastors, followed each week with opportunities to learn about our APC food pantry, HomeFront, and the immigrant ministries of Interfaith-Rise.

Sermon: Crowned
Preacher: J.C. Fowler
As the New Year begins, it is time to reflect on where we have been and where we are going. The ancient battle between light and darkness is not just a story, but a reality that demands a choice. Discover the freedom found in belonging to the Kingdom of Light, where identity is based on being chosen by God rather than worldly performance. Jesus invites everyone to claim their status as chosen royalty and join Him in His work.
#KingdomOfLight #NewYearNewFocus #ChosenRoyalty #FaithWalk
Faithwork Assignment: Take time to reflect on the truth that you are chosen royalty, not because of what you achieve, but because God has selected you for His family. Consider the areas of your life where you might be letting other rulers like approval, control, or fear sit on the throne of your heart. Meditate on the sacrifice Jesus made by trading a crown of gold for a crown of thorns, and ask Him to show you how to actively participate in the battle for light.

Solely Sermons | When You Find What You’re Looking For
December 28, 2025 • James Wilson Jr. • Matthew 2:1–12
Allentown Presbyterian Church, Allentown NJ
Scripture: Matthew 2:1–12
Sermon: When You Find What You’re Looking For
Preacher: James Wilson Jr.
The search for meaning is a universal human experience that often leaves us feeling restless. Using the journey of the Magi in Matthew 2, this message explores how God meets us in our uncertainty and guides us through trouble. Discover how to start your spiritual journey right where you are, the importance of traveling in community, and the transformative power of re-centering your life and worship solely on Jesus Christ.
#Epiphany #SpiritualJourney #SeekingGod #Matthew2 #WiseMen #Faith
Faithwork Assignment: Start your journey exactly where you are today, understanding that you do not need to be perfect to seek God. Recognize that facing trouble does not mean God is absent; instead, trust that He is guiding you even through difficult seasons. Finally, examine your heart to ensure you are not worshiping the blessings in your life more than the Giver. Make a conscious effort to recenter your life on Jesus, allowing Him to be the true Lord of your story. Remember S.T.A.R.:
Start Where You Are
Take the Risk
Arrive Together
Re-center on Jesus

Live Worship Replay | His Marvelous Light
December 24, 2025 • Rev. Dr Stephen Heinzel-Nelson • Genesis 1:1–3, Isaiah 9:2, Isaiah 9:6, 1 Peter 2:9
Scripture: Genesis 1:1-3, Isaiah 9:2, Isaiah 9:6, I Peter 2:9
Sermon: His Marvelous Light
Preacher: Rev. Dr. Stephen Heinzel-Nelson
When life feels dark and chaotic, it is easy to respond with fear or anger. But the Christmas story reminds us that God steps directly into the darkness to bring Light. We are invited to make a brave choice: to turn away from despair and instead offer love, kindness, and hope to those around us. Just one small light can break the darkness.
#LightOfTheWorld #Hope #Courage #Faith #ChooseLove
Faithwork Assignment:
When we find ourselves in dark places, we face a choice between responding with fear and hate or responding with courage and love. What choice will you make the next time you feel overwhelmed by the shadows of life? Just as one candle lit in defiance of darkness sparked a revolution in Romania, our small acts of courage and kindness can drive out despair. Who is one person in your life that needs you to be a light for them right now?

Solely Sermons | Watching and Waiting
December 21, 2025 • Rev. Lindsay Anderson-Beck • Luke 2:25–35
Sermon Series: What Are You Waiting For?
Scripture: Luke 2:25-35
Sermon: Watching and Waiting
Preacher: Rev. Lindsay Anderson-Beck
Watch the Full Worship Service: https://allentownpresbyterianchu.http://subspla.sh/gbnts9t
Waiting is often viewed as an inconvenience, yet it is an inescapable part of the human experience. This message explores the life of Simeon, a man who faithfully waited for the Messiah, to reveal how "in-between" seasons shape the soul. Rather than just a delay, waiting becomes a transformative ground where character is forged. Discover how to find purpose in the pause and experience God’s sustaining presence.
Faithwork Assignment: Consider the season of waiting you are currently in. Instead of viewing it as wasted time, recognize it as an active season where God is shaping your character. Reflect on whether this time is causing bitterness or if it is an opportunity to grow in patience and love. Remember that God is often more interested in who you are becoming during the wait than the destination itself. Ask yourself how your heart is being transformed while you stand in the "in-between." Finally, find comfort in knowing you do not wait alone. The Holy Spirit is present to sustain you, so seek to find rest in God's presence even if your deepest longings remain unfulfilled.

Advent Sermon Series - What Are You Waiting For:
The hymn, "O Come O Come Emmanuel" captures the spirit of advent. It tells of the deep longing for God to break into the world; a longing that was met with the birth of Jesus. This longing continues, as we wait with expectation for Jesus to come again, and again. Join us this advent as, along with the prophets of old, we await the coming of the Messiah.

This longing continues, as we wait with expectation for Jesus to come again, and again. Join us this advent as, along with the prophets of old, we await the coming of the Messiah.

Solely Sermons | Waiting for the Vision
December 14, 2025 • Rev. Dr Stephen Heinzel-Nelson • Habakkuk 2:1–3
Sermon Series: What Are You Waiting For?
Scripture: Habakkuk 2:1-3
Sermon: Waiting for the Vision
Preacher: Rev. Dr. Stephen Heinzel-Nelson
Advent is a season of waiting, often lived in the "in-between" of promises made and promises kept. Exploring the ancient wisdom of the prophet Habakkuk reveals how to find hope when life feels broken. Discover the difference between human time and God's perfect timing. Learn how a clear vision from God provides the strength to live by faith, rather than pride, while anticipating the coming King who makes all things right.
Faithwork Assignment:
Take time to reflect on the "in-between" moments of your life where God is active, even if His promises are not yet fully visible. Consider what vision or hope provides you with the energy to persevere through difficulties. Finally, examine areas where you might be relying solely on your own control and identify one specific way you can lean more on God's plan instead of your own strength.

Solely Sermons | Waiting for Peace
December 7, 2025 • Rev. Dr Stephen Heinzel-Nelson • Micah 4:1–4
Sermon Series: What Are You Waiting For?
Scripture: Micah 4:1-4
Sermon: Waiting for Peace
Preacher: Rev. Dr. Stephen Heinzel-Nelson
The world often feels defined by conflict, yet God’s vision remains one where nations put down their swords and everyone sits securely under their own vine. Peace isn't just a distant dream; it is an active calling for believers. Whether it is through prayer, serving those in need, or choosing kind words over hurtful comments online, everyone has a role to play in God's plan.
Faithwork Assignment
Take time to reflect on God's vision for a world where weapons are turned into tools for harvest. Consider how you can contribute to safety and abundance in your local area. Deeply examine your personal interactions, specifically the words used in person and online, to ensure they bring healing rather than adding to division. Finally, make a commitment to pray for global peace and identify one person to invite to learn more about the ways of God.

Solely Sermons | Waiting Well
November 30, 2025 • J.C. Fowler • Isaiah 40:27–31
Sermon Series: What Are You Waiting For
Scripture: Isaiah 40: 27-31
Sermon: Waiting Well
Preacher: J.C. Fowler
Everyone faces seasons of waiting, whether for small daily annoyances or heavy life burdens. While biology and modern society make patience difficult, scripture offers a different perspective. Exploring Isaiah 40 reveals that waiting is not passive helplessness but a tension filled with hopeful anticipation. By remembering God's past faithfulness, frustration transforms into spiritual strength. Discover how to shift from unexpected delays to expectant hope, trusting that the Lord renews strength for those who wait on Him during this Advent season.
Faithwork Assignment:
Waiting is inevitable, but the mindset you adopt during these times is crucial. Take time to identify if you are currently waiting with frustration or with the hopeful anticipation that God is at work. Active remembering is a tool that fuels hope, so reflect on your life to find specific instances where you clearly saw God's faithfulness. Use those memories to help you trust Him in your current circumstances. Recognize that waiting is not the absence of God but often the place where He does His deepest work. Resist the temptation to take shortcuts and choose to rely on His character and His timing.
