This weekend, we’re concluding our series “Dirt Matters.” Those who work our land know that in order to produce a good harvest, we must cultivate our soil. It’s not enough to only focus on getting rid of the sin in our lives, we must also tend to our spiritual soil.
So far, we’ve learned that there are 4 types of soil: the path, the rocky soil, the thorny soil, and the good soil.
This weekend’s message is titled “The Cares of a Crowded Heart” and in our soil sample, we’ll be studying the seed that was sown “among the thorns.” According to Jesus, this is the one who hears the word; “but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.” Mark 4:18-19 [NIV]
Our hearts can easily be distracted from what is important by what is pervasive! We also need to be cautious NOT to allow the stuff that we own, to own us, and choke our heart’s openness to God. When our hearts are receptive, we are open to the work that the Spirit of God is doing in us. Let’s talk about having an open heart this weekend!
We can’t wait to worship with you this Sunday at 10am!
