Transcript: In Nahum chapter 1 verse 3 the prophet declares, “the Lord’s slow to anger and great in power and will not overlook the sin of the wicked.” He then makes an amazing statement: The Lord has His way in the tornado and in the storm and the clouds are the dust of His feet. Sadly, most people don’t know that in the Bible, there’re over 1400 references to weather. Most are directly linked to God communications of His blessing or judgment to mankind. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Throughout Scripture, God’s made it clear that He withholds rain or sends the flood as demonstrations of displeasure. He sends rain and sun at just the right times and in the right amounts as demonstrations of His favor. Transcript: God not only communicates through His Word and the weather, He speaks through circumstances as well. For example, when the first church was persecuted in Jerusalem, the Christians fled. God used circumstances to spread the Good News by forcing His people from their comfort zones to new people and locations. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Just as God used circumstances to direct the steps of the early Church, He did as well for Moses, Gideon, Esther, Jonah, and others. God often communicates His will for us the same way today. We may not always understand why God brings difficult circumstances into our lives, but we can always trust Him in our circumstances. Remember Joseph? After enslavement and imprisonment, he could later say to his brothers, “While you meant it for evil, God meant it for good.” God worked through Joseph’s circumstances to change lives and save lives. Transcript: The Bible’s more than a book; it’s God’s Holy Word. It’s infallible and God’s complete communication to mankind. In 2 Timothy 3:16, we read that all Scripture is inspired or literally “breathed out by God.” Do you want to know God’s communication to you? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. By being God-breathed, God’s Word is all we need. It speaks to all issues of life. It’s where God tells us about sin and redemption. It’s where God instructs the wise, gives wisdom, guides us through the dark valleys and how to traverse the mountain tops. But, we have to read it, believe it and embrace it for us to understand God’s communication to us. Do you want to hear God’s will for you today? It’s not a mystery. One of our deepest longings in life is to have purpose. Many seek temporal meaning pursuing work, money, or relationships, but God’s purpose for us has eternal meaning accompanied by physical evidence. First John 3:10 presents God’s purpose for us… live biblically and obediently and love our brothers and sisters in Christ. The greatest purpose in life is fulfilling our purpose in Christ which arises from our identity in Christ. When our purpose is to live righteously and be like Christ, to love the family of God and others like God has loved us, the world will be changed.
