Interview with astronaut Jeffrey Williams: Life in Space and Greatness of God

How would you describe the life support system on the International Space Station (ISS)? Can you compare the level of complexity of life support systems on the ISS and on Earth? What would you say to a person who does not believe in God the Creator?

*Colonel (retired) Jeffrey N. Williams grew up on a farm in the rural community of Winter, Wisconsin. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1980 and then served more than 27 years in the U.S. Army. Williams became an astronaut in 1996 anf flew on the 10-day Space Shuttle mission STS-101 in 2000 before beginning training for 183-day expedition 13 to the ISS in 2006.

Jeffrey flew on two more extended spaceflights, in 2009-2010 as part of Expeditions 21 and 22, and finally in 2016 as part of Expeditions 47 and 48. Spending a total of 534 days in space, Williams has performed five spacewalks and served as ISS commander twice. He got retired from The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in 2024.

Jeffrey Williams holds a bachelor's degree from USMA, master's and aerospace engineering degree from the Naval War College, and a doctor of ministry degree from The Master's Seminary. He is currently a pastor of Word of Grace Bible Church in Battle Ground, WA. God has blessed him and his wife Anne-Marie with two sons and seven grandchildren.
