Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 22 - Final Greetings (4:21-23)

Paul concludes his letter to the Philippians with some final greetings, especially from those of Caesar's household. All that Paul taught throughout this letter, and all that the Philippians were to be commended for, led to this one reality - that the furtherance of the gospel is always to be the primary mission of the church. And we need to remember that the furtherance of the gospel, to a great extent, lied squarely on the shoulders of godly men who's mission in life was God's mission. In this final message of the series, we learn 5 ways men can be godly fathers and leaders, and how all Christians can can experience the resolve and joy that we're commanded to live out as followers of Jesus Christ.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 21 - A Generous Church (4:14-20)

There are so many messages and opinions about money that make their way into the church and the life of the Christian. However, giving is so much more than we often give it credit for. In this message, we see the tremendous generosity of the Philippian church, and how they set a standard for giving that we as followers of Jesus can learn alot from in our pursuit to become joyful, resolute and content in all circumstances.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 20 - Content In All Things (4:10-13)

After Paul teaches so profoundly about the experiencing the peace of God and living in the presence of the God of peace, he shares a very important lesson that he's learned in the life - the secret of being content in all circumstances. So whether we have much or are in great need, the secret to godly contentment is realizing that we can thrive in all circumstances through Christ who strengthens us.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 18 - Conflict Resolution (4:1-3)

As Paul begins to wrap up his letter to the Philippians with one more chapter, there's one thing that's still on his mind that he deems necessary to address and take care of as a spiritual father of the church. In dealing with a specific feud within the church, Paul teaches us how to effectively and biblically deal with conflict in our relationships, specifically within the church.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 17 - Christian Discipleship (3:17-21)

Discipleship is not just the command of Christ to the church in fulfillment of the Great Commission, but it is also the context in which we are to be transformed into the image of Christ. Looking to other more mature Christians and imitating their walk in the Lord will help us be that example to others, all while we collectively seek to be like Christ. In this message, we learn four markers of healthy Christian discipleship.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 16 - Straining Toward the Goal (3:12-16)

As much as Paul knew Christ and the power of the resurrection, and shared in the sufferings of Christ, he also knew he had so much more to learn and grow in. So because Christ took ownership of his life, he desired to let go of the past, straining forward and toward the goal of the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Ultimately, we are called to maturity in our faith and grab a hold of what we've already received in Christ.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 15 - Gains in Christ (3:8-11)

In contrast to boasting in self-righteousness, Paul counts all the worldly status he had as loss, considering the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord. As we look at this section in Paul's letter, we consider 5 different gains we have in our Christian faith - all connected to Christ himself.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 14 - A Protective Perspective (3:1-7)

As Paul pivots in the beginning of chapter 3, while still encouraging the Philippians to rejoice in the Lord, brings a warning to the church to guard against those who would distort the gospel by introducing works-based legalism. Paul reminds his readers, that if they think they have any reason to boast in who they are or what they can do, he has even more of a reason according to worldly standards. However, whatever gain that may bring, he counts it all as loss compared to knowing Christ!

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 13 - An Honorable Life (2:25-30)

As we wrap up chapter 2 in the book of Philippians, we learn about another man whom we should emulate and honor in our lives - Epaphroditus. As Paul describes the 5 different roles and characteristics of Epaphroditus, we will look at 5 ways we can live in an honorable manner that adds great value to the lives of others.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 12 - A Servant's Heart (2:19-24)

Paul's message to the church in the 2nd chapter of Philippians is centered around his exhortation in verses 3-5 - to consider the interests of others before our own as we seek to live in a state of humility and service. He provides the ultimate example of Christ, followed by the example of his own life. In this section of chapter, he continues to provide another example of selfless service and humility through the life of Timothy. In this message, we'll consider how we can all live like Timothy.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 10 - Obedience in Sanctification (2:12-13)

In a series of logical conclusions in which theology influences behavior, Paul encourages and exhorts the church to personally engage in the process of sanctification, to do so with consistency and integrity, and all the while knowing that it is God who empowers us along the way.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 9 - The Lordship and Exaltation of Jesus (2:9-11)

Paul's description of the Father's response to Jesus' humility and obedience in verses 5-8 offers us one of the most beautiful pictures of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ high and lifted up. And through these great theological truths, they provide to us four profound implications for how we should be living our lives!

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 8 - Christ's Humility and Obedience (2:5-8)

As Paul seeks to encourage the Philippian church to become humble in all their ways, he proceeds to give them the ultimate example in the person and life of Jesus Christ. As eternal God of the universe, Jesus exhibited the greatest level of humility, emptying himself of the privileges and prerogatives of God to become a human and a servant of all, obeying the will of the Father all the way to the cross.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 7- A Humble Disposition (2:1-4)

February 20, 2022 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • Philippians 2:1–4

Paul makes the case that unity is the result when the body of Christ recognizes the encouragement, comfort, love, fellowship, affection and sympathy present within the church. But in order to experience such unity, humility must be present within every relationship amongst fellow believers. And this humility is expressed by serving one another and thinking of others before self.

Resolute & Rejoicing, Pt. 6 - United We Stand (1:27-30)

Paul wraps up chapter 1 in his letter to the Philippian church to live in a manner worthy of the gospel, which will entail being united in one mind, with one spirit. In this message, we look at what that unity looks like in the church, and how we can all grow together for the sake of Christ!
