Saints by the will of God

April 14, 2024 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • 1 Corinthians 15:10, Ephesians 1:1–2, Mark 3:13–15, James 4:1–3, 1 Peter 4:1–2

In part 1 of our series on the book of Ephesians, we look at Paul's introduction in verses 1-2. Paul establishes that he's an apostle by the will of God, and we too, as saints, are products of the will of God.

We begin by looking at three ways to discern God's will in our own lives, including God's word, through prayer, and by seeking wise counsel.

We then consider the ramifications of being saints of God. As saints, we have been renewed by faith in God, we're recipients of the grace of God, and we are called to remain in the peace of God.

May 12, 2024 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • Romans 8:37–39, Revelation 2:2–5, Ephesians 1:15–19

In part 5 of our series, we look at Ephesians 1:15-19 as the apostle Paul takes a turn from praise to prayer. Paul begins with a commendation for the saints in Ephesus, and then turns to share a power prayer for all saints, specifically to have the eyes of their hearts enlightened to the wisdom and revelation of the knowledge of God. And Paul narrows in on three aspects of the knowledge of God. First, to know the promise of living hope to which God has called all saints. Second, we are to know the riches of God's inheritance in the saints. And lastly, we are to know the power of God.

I'm a Saint, Pt. 4

May 5, 2024 • Pastor Jeremy Dente • Ephesians 1:11–14, 1 Peter 1:3–7

In part of 4 of our series "I'm a Saint", we examine the end of Paul's opening discourse about the spiritual blessings in the heavenly places that belong to all who are in Christ. In verses 11-14 of Ephesians 1, we learn how those blessings are all part of the inheritance that awaits all who have believed in the gospel and as a result are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit. That inheritance is predestined, it is purposed, it is promised, and it is to be possessed.

In part 3 of our series, we continue in Paul's lengthy and theologically rich opening of Ephesians 1:3-14 as he expounds on the many spiritual blessings for those who are in Christ, giving us all the more reason to worship God. In verses 7-10, we learn about our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins, the revelation of the mystery of Christ that we've received in the gospel, and how Christ's ultimate goal is to unite all things in himself.
