Genesis 3:15 When sin entered the world, it fractured everything: creation, relationships, and our ability to look upon God without fear. Yet in that very moment of rebellion, God made a promise: the offspring of the woman would crush the serpent’s head. This was the first glimpse of Christmas, the day humanity would once again behold the face of God, not in judgment, but in mercy. From the garden to the manger, God’s heart has never been to turn away from His people, but to restore what sin destroyed. Every prophecy, every covenant, every story after Genesis 3 points to that promise fulfilled in Christ. In Jesus, the invisible God becomes visible; the face once hidden by holiness is now revealed through grace. The gospel is not just about forgiveness, it’s about a relationship restored, a Father whose face now shines upon His children. Reflection: 1. How does God’s first promise in Genesis shape the way you see His heart for humanity? 2. In what ways has Jesus helped you experience the nearness of God? Prayer: Lord, thank You that Your plan from the beginning was to turn Your face toward us. Let Your presence be my greatest hope and my deepest joy.
Isaiah 9:2-7 Isaiah’s words were spoken into a world of chaos and fear. God’s people had wandered far, and darkness seemed to cover the land. Yet the prophet saw a future where light would break through, a light that wasn’t just illumination, but revelation. The child he described, the Wonderful Counselor and Prince of Peace, would reveal what God is really like. When Jesus was born, the light dawned, and humanity could finally see the face of God in human form. His compassion healed the broken, His truth confronted the proud, and His grace invited sinners home. Every time we look to Jesus, we are looking into the light of God’s countenance, a face that doesn’t turn away from our darkness but transforms it. This Advent, remember that the same light that filled Bethlehem still shines into every shadow of your life today. Reflection: 1. Where do you most need the light of Christ to shine right now? 2. How can you reflect the face of Jesus to someone walking through darkness? Prayer: Jesus, Light of the world, shine into my heart and through my life. Let others see Your face in the way I love and live.
