Transcript: During this week preceding Mother’s Day, it’s good to think about our moms and give them due honor. What does God say about honoring our parents? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with the American Pastors Network and another Stand in the Gap Minute. Since God designed the idea of family as 1 man and 1 woman in devotion to each other and if blessed of God with children, we should honor our moms in a special way if they’ve done well in raising us to fear God and walk in His steps. The 5th Commandment says to honor our fathers and mothers. But honoring is more than being thankful. To honor includes obeying them as God’s stewards over us and submitting ourselves to their direction as we would to God. When done well, the example of children obeying their parents, moms instructing their children in the ways of God are powerful. Transcript: Many people say they love God but really can’t because since they don’t know God’s love through Jesus Christ they can’t share what they don’t have. Equally impossible are others who say they love God but don’t do what He says. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with the American Pastors Network and another Stand in the Gap Minute. I John 5:3 says “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.” You see, loving God can be measured by keeping Gods commands. In other words, obedience to God’s word is the measure of ones love of God. Partial obedience – no love. Disobedience? No love. We simply can’t love God if we harbor sin in our hearts, choose to obey only part of what God says, or never read what He wrote. How about you? That means you and me and every person ever born or will be born. He loved so much that He willingly sent Jesus Christ to die for the sins of humankind. Since God so loved the world, have you acknowledged His love, embraced Jesus Christ as God’s love and only Way to eternal life? If so, do you love others as God does and at least sharing this good news of God’s love with others? If not, why not? Remember, you can’t share what you don’t have. The type of self-sacrificing love that’s demonstrated by God Himself who loved the world so much He sent His only Son -Jesus Christ – to die for our sins as a perfect sacrifice – demonstrating that God is truly the standard setter for true love. Loving God and others with this kind of love is only possible after personally experiencing God’s love by trusting in Jesus Christ. Can you truly love God?
