Friday, August 12, 2022 - Things to Put Away Series: Put Away Bitterness

August 12, 2022

Transcript: How can we become more kind and forgiving? The answer is found in putting away sinful habits. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. This week, we've discussed the importance of putting away evil to grow in our walk with God. Ephesians 4 concludes by teaching us to, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” The words contrast the previous verse that reminds us to put away bitterness and wrath. As believers, we don’t simply put away wrong habits. We replace them with godly ways. This process of casting on and casting off is a key part of our spiritual maturity. We do more than simply live by a list of do’s and don’ts. We seek to flee from sin as we grow more like our Savior who offered His life as the perfect example for us today. Thursday, August 11, 2022 - Things to Put Away Series: Put Away Doing Evil

August 11, 2022

A clean life does not begin with better clothing or a new haircut, but with a clean heart. What is the key to living a clean life before the Lord? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. In Isaiah 1:16, the prophet told his readers to “make themselves clean.” How? They were told to “cease to do evil.” Jesus offered a similar teaching. He noted it’s not what we put into our body that makes us clean, but what comes out of it. Our hurtful words and actions come from a heart that responds from anger or bitterness. The answer is to fill our hearts with God’s love through His Word. When we focus our lives on what is good, we are more likely to honor the Lord. Our heavenly Father empowers us toward a holy life, but we must be willing to put away doing evil. Wednesday, August 10, 2022 - Things to Put Away Series: Put Away Childish Things

August 10, 2022

Transcript: The actions we find adorable in a baby are often considered immature for an adult. The same is true spiritually, though we often miss this important difference. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. When an infant crawls on the floor in a diaper, parents and grandparents take videos to share with the world. But the same scene would be considered immature twenty years later. The apostle Paul noted this difference in 1 Corinthians 13:11 when he wrote, “When I was a child…I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.” In today’s churches, too many of our leaders are still living like spiritual infants. To be blunt, it’s shameful. We are called to put away the childish habits of an infant and live with maturity in our relationship with believers, and in how we reach the unbelieving world. Tuesday, August 9, 2022 - Things To Put Away Series: Put Away Idolatry

August 9, 2022

Transcript: Is America guilty of worshipping idols? According to God’s definition. Yes. We are a nation of idolators! Anything which we place in front of God is idolatry. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. When Joshua led God’s people into the promised land, he commanded them in Joshua 24:14 to, “Put away the gods your fathers served.” Americans do not usually bow down to physical idols or worship other deities, but we continue to prioritize products and pleasures ahead of the Lord. From the latest phone, car, home, or even a relationship, we can turn good things into something we revere—and even worship—like we would in our worship of God. The answer is not to continue tolerating our sinful spiritual idolatry, but to put it away. Our fear of the Lord is shown through what we are willing to give up to serve Him. Monday, August 8, 2022 - Things to Put Away Series: Put Away Evil

August 8, 2022

Transcript: Scripture teaches us to “put away” certain practices in our lives. If we don’t, we won’t fear God or get His blessings. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. When God revealed His laws to Moses in Deuteronomy 13:5, He said to Israel, “purge the evil from your midst.” One key to mature faith and holy living is to remove wrong things from our lives. For example, that may mean certain television program, or internet sites which promoted evil and temptation. Another example may be avoiding people who routinely blaspheme God, promote evil or are cynical to the things of God. It may mean removing culturally acceptable crude humor which is in God’s sight sinful and affront to His character and nature. For others, it may be a pastime or hobby that takes us farther from God rather than closer to Him. Whatever is moving you toward evil must not be tolerated, but removed and put away in order to grow closer to God and impact others for eternity. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Friday, August 5, 2022 - Integrity Series: Continual Obedience for Integrity

August 5, 2022

Transcript: Integrity’s not temporary; it’s continual. There’s a big difference, and that difference MAKES all the difference. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. This week, we've discussed the role of integrity in the life of the believer and in America. This includes authority, a common vision, virtue and self-government. Yet another key aspect that brings these forces together is continual obedience. In Deuteronomy, God clearly defined blessings for obedience and judgment for disobedience. Their actions included consequences regarding God’s hand at work among them. Still today, we are called not only to serve God for a season, but to preach the Word in season and out of season. Some of our biblical convictions may not be popular today, but they remain important to our faith. Let’s continue to live and speak our convictions. What matters most to God is not our popularity, but our integrity. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Thursday, August 4, 2022 - Integrity Series: Integrity and Self-Government

August 4, 2022

Transcript: What’s it mean to be a self-governing republic? And why’s this form of government so important to Christians living in America? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. William Penn once wrote that Americans “will be governed by the laws of your own making and live as a free, and, if you will, serious and industrious people.” He’s right. But he made it clear that those laws must be in alignment with God’s moral laws to which people voluntarily submitted. Penn and others said often, that no republic could ever rise or continue unless the people and the leaders voluntarily submitted themselves to the 10 Commandments of God. They believed that integrity – a right relationship with God in heart and actions was where it started. Virtue – the voluntary obedience to God’s Truth is where it must go. Upon these things a self-governing republic can survive. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Wednesday, August 3, 2022 - Integrity Series: A Common Vision

August 3, 2022

Transcript: William Penn expressed a common vision for government later built within the Declaration of Independence. How does integrity, a common vision and national renewal link? I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. The rotunda in the Pennsylvania state Capitol includes the words of William Penn which read, “That there may be room there for such a holy experiment, for the nations want a precedent. And my God will make it the seed of a nation.” What a vision? A self-governing republic based on God’s authority. When we recognize this vision shared by our nation’s founding fathers, we’ll gain a vision for blessing and accept our duty to pursue it. God will then make it to happen. Praying for our nation, seeking the good of our land, and honoring those who serve our land are just some of the ways we can pursue this vision with integrity. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 - Integrity Series: Authority and Integrity

August 2, 2022

Transcript: Spiritual renewal’s not based on our human achievements, but on God’s authority in our lives. So, what’s the difference? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Americans tend to emphasize achievements. We focus on income, education, influence, and other external factors to measure a person’s success. Yet God challenges us to view life differently—from His perspective. Psalm 127:1 says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it.” In other words, unless we live lives of integrity according to God’s expectations and under His authority, our achievements are worthless. Jesus compared this to building our lives on His solid foundation rather than on sinking sand. If we hope to build anything that lasts, we need more than our accomplishments; we need the Lord to build our house. When we submit to God’s authority and build His way, we will then experience true success. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Monday, August 1, 2022 - Integrity Series: The Importance of Integrity

August 1, 2022

Transcript: King David asked God to preserve him in “integrity and uprightness.” What’s this mean for us—and for our nation—today? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. David’s emphasis in Psalm 25 should be our desire as a foundation for national renewal today. We can’t expect God to work through us in power when we don’t live before Him in integrity. Unfortunately, the importance of integrity is mocked in our society. The word “integrity” comes from a Latin word meaning complete or whole. It’s living with unconfessed sin before God and in honesty before others. Jesus called it living with a pure heart. Biblical integrity’s built on the Truth of God’s Word. As you seek God’s blessing in your life, remember the necessity of walking with integrity before Him. His plan for integrity is found in the pages of Scripture. Through it, God will preserve you—as He did King David.. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Friday, July 29, 2022 - Resisting Evil Series: Confront Evil with Obedience

July 29, 2022

Transcript: Our current lawless society marked by violence, the attacking of churches and pregnancy centers and generally clamoring for the right to murder the unborn, but don’t faint. God’s given us the plan for Divine response in these evil days. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Psalm 7:9 teaches God establishes the righteous. Psalm 34:15 adds, "The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous." When it comes to the righteous, we must choose to obey the commands of God, live out the commands of God, genuinely know the Truth then unapologetically live and proclaim the truth. If we want God’s blessing to return to our nation, it will require confronting evil, not running from it. Advancing God's standards for a godly and orderly society after first starting in our own lives then extending broadly into our culture. Only then can God's blessing on our lives and our nation be expected. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Thursday, July 28, 2022 - Resisting Evil Series: Do Right Today

July 28, 2022

Transcript: We must all resist the lawlessness and the increasing evil in our nation today. Sometimes that’s refusing to bow to an immoral or ungodly government dictate. Sometimes it’s writing a letter to an elected official about how they should vote or letting them know we’re not happy with what they’ve done or not done. Sometimes it’s just refusing to think unbiblically though the ungodly culture would have us do otherwise. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. As this world rushes to a 1 world anti-christ government and undermines our constitution and attacks the right of Christians to live our lives and raise our children as the Bible says, then we must resist the evil and obey God rather than man. Don't back down when evil advances – because it is advancing. Raise up the standard of God’s word and do right where God has placed you today. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net

Wednesday, July 27, 2022 - Resisting Evil Series: Actively Resist

July 27, 2022

Transcript: Have you considered that to remain silent in the face of evil is to promote evil? So how can we resist the sin we witness in today's culture? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Proverbs 28:4 teaches, "Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive against them." At the American Pastors Network, we intentionally band together to faithfully stand for biblical truth in the public square. This includes preaching passionately the whole counsel of God, praying fervently, encouraging congregations, and engaging together as ministers. The lawlessness in our time is too great for only a few to oppose. As believers, pastors and congregations, we must together oppose evil and provide bold witness for truth in our culture. Join with us through prayer, encouragement, and sharing information on key issues as we resist the evil of our day. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Tuesday, July 26, 2022 - Resisting Evil Series: Stand Under Fire

July 26, 2022

Transcript: Being fired for refusing to wear an LGBT rainbow or refusing to take a death shot is reality. So what’s the believer's responsibility in opposing beliefs which oppose our faith? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. In the case of many employees or soldiers, Christians are fired, then rightly choose to pursue a legal settlement. This conflict reminds me of the words of Isaiah 7:9 that read, "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." God is clear that silence is not an option in response to evil. We must take bold action and oppose sin. Otherwise, we are complicit participants of our surrounding culture. When you face opposition to your beliefs today, don't shrink back. Stand firm! The one who died and rose from the grave will give you the power to resist evil no matter what you face today. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.

Monday, July 25, 2022 - Resisting Evil Series: Respond with Salt

July 25, 2022

Transcript: Resisting evil is something every Christian is obligated to do. Sometimes that evil confronts us personally through words of hatred or animosity because of our biblical convictions. The apostle Paul instructs our response through a word picture related to salt. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus spoke of our role as being salt and light. In the ancient world, salt was the primarily preservative. Salt burns in a wound but it heals as a result. Likewise, light chases darkness but illuminates to way for others so they won’t stumble on the path. And the darker the culture, the brighter our light shines when we speak truth to the evil around us. And speak the truth we must since silence is endorsement. Only then will we serve as the salt and light our Lord intends. Discover more at American Pastors Network dot net.
