March 1, 2026 • Rev. Dr Stephen Heinzel-Nelson • 1 Timothy 6:6–10, Luke 7:33–34, Philippians 4:11–13
Sermon Series: Heart Disease - The Deadly Inner World of Sin
Sermon: Contentment
Scripture: 1 Timothy 6: 6-10
Preacher: Rev. Dr. Stephen Heinzel-Nelson
Are you constantly striving for more but still feeling empty inside? Our modern culture encourages over-consumption, pushing us to seek satisfaction in wealth, food, and endless entertainment. Discover the ancient secret to true contentment found in First Timothy. By shifting focus from material accumulation to spiritual fulfillment, our restless hearts can finally find lasting peace in Jesus. Tune in to explore how to live a life of moderation and true joy! #ChristianLiving #Contentment #Faith #SpiritualGrowth
FAITHWORK ASSIGNMENT:
True contentment comes from a deep relationship with Jesus, rather than the constant pursuit of more. Take time to consider whether you are searching for fulfillment in things that will never truly satisfy your soul. While having wealth is not a sin, loving money and hoarding it can lead to deep spiritual emptiness. Reflect on how you can use the resources God has given you to generously bless others in His name. We all have an infinite hunger that material goods, technology, or earthly comforts cannot fill. Identify what earthly distractions you need to let go of to let God fully satisfy your restless heart.
SERMON SERIES
Heart Disease - The Deadly Inner World of Sin
Since the early centuries of the church certain sins have come to be known as deadly. These persistent and pernicious behaviors, while not listed as a group in scripture, have a resonance and application that are timeless. Lust, greed, envy, pride, sloth, wrath, gluttony continue to haunt the life of God’s people throughout the ages. This Lent we want to look at the attitudes that orient us toward these destructive behaviors, and how we as Christians can move beyond these to health. We need to have a heart checkup.

Stop Thinking About Yourself!
February 22, 2026 • J.C. Fowler
"Remember that pride is centering ourselves and being self-centered doesn't necessarily mean that we think good thoughts about ourself all the time It just means that we think about ourself all the time. And I'm convinced that the treatment Paul prescribes is the same - to think of others. Let's say you constantly think about your own flaws. You're always wondering what other people are thinking of you when you walk into a room. Well if you were to train your thoughts to think about how you can meet the needs of others, you won't have time to get trapped in those loops."

Solely Sermons | The Queen of Sin
February 22, 2026 • J.C. Fowler • Philippians 2:1–11
Sermon Series: Heart Disease - The Deadly Inner World of Sin
Scripture: Philippians 2:1-11
Sermon: The Queen of Sin
Preacher: J.C. Fowler
Explore the ancient struggle with pride, often called the "queen of all sins," and discover its powerful antidote found in the book of Philippians. This message delves into the true meaning of humility—not as self-degradation, but as a radical shift in focus away from self-centeredness. Learn how adopting the self-emptying mindset of Jesus can cure spiritual heart disease and lead to a more fulfilling life of serving others.
#philippians2 #wayofjesus #christianliving
FAITHWORK ASSIGNMENT
Take some time to reflect on the nature of pride as a spiritual sickness of self-centeredness, where we often mistakenly believe we know better than God. Remember that true humility is not about degrading yourself or thinking you have no value; it is simply about thinking of yourself less and grounding yourself in God's truth. Your challenge is to actively combat pride by consciously turning your thoughts toward serving the needs of those around you instead of focusing solely on your own interests.

Solely Sermons | Ash Wednesday 2026 | Breathless
February 18, 2026 • Kevin Heide • Ezekiel 37:1–14
Ash Wednesday 2026
Scripture: Ezekiel 37: 1-14
Sermon: Breathless
Preacher: Kevin Heide
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of preparing hearts for the hope of Easter. By exploring Ezekiel’s vision of the valley of dry bones, we confront the reality of sin as misplaced worship. When we seek ultimate fulfillment in things outside of our Creator—like status, work, or entertainment—we often find ourselves spiritually breathless and weary. This episode invites listeners to acknowledge their brokenness and look toward the hope of God breathing new life into the driest places of their souls.
FAITHWORK ASSIGNMENT: Take time to reflect on the reality that sin is often a slow drift of misplaced worship where we seek fulfillment in things other than God, which eventually leaves us spiritually breathless. Consider carefully where you have sought ultimate enjoyment only to find yourself tired and weary instead. Remember that we cannot fully grasp the grace provided by the Cross until we first recognize the depth of our own sin and brokenness. Examine your heart honestly to see where you need His grace most, trusting the promise that God breathes revival and new life into our driest places when we repent and return to Him.

Solely Sermons | Homecoming | Guest Preacher: Dr. William Willimon
February 15, 2026 • Dr. William Willimon • Luke 15:11–24
Sermon Series: Revival
Scripture: Luke 15:11-24
Sermon: Homecoming
Guest Preacher: Dr. William Willimon
Watch the Full Worship Service: https://allentownpresbyterianchu.http://subspla.sh/wrf65nn
Have you ever felt like you needed a spiritual revival but didn't know where to start? We often think repentance requires a long, rehearsed apology to God. But looking at the story of the Prodigal Son, we see a Father who runs to meet us while we are still far off, interrupting our groveling speeches to throw a celebration. Revival might just mean "coming to your senses" and realizing you have a home ready to welcome you back. If God is more interested in celebrating your return than hearing your perfect apology, what is stopping you from running home today?
#ProdigalSon #SpiritualRevival
FAITHWORK ASSIGNMENT: Reflect on the idea that spiritual revival often begins not with a dramatic event, but simply when we come to our senses while far from God. Consider that like the prodigal's father, God is not interested in rehearsed speeches of apology, but rather in immediately celebrating your return. Take time to meditate on the realization that faith is knowing you have a Father and a true spiritual home to return to whenever you are ready.
REVIVAL SUNDAY
This Sunday is Revival Sunday at APC, and you won’t want to miss it! Our worship will feature dynamic preaching, inspired music, and a unique opportunity to commit and recommit our lives to Jesus. We are proud to welcome to our pulpit Dr. Will Willimon, nationally renowned author, pastor, professor, and speaker. Dr. Willimon recently retired from teaching at Duke Divinity School. He is the author of dozens of books and articles that have sold over 1 million copies. He is regularly referred to as one of the most influential figures in American Christianity in the last 50 years. His preaching, teaching and writing have had a profound impact on a generation of pastors.
REVIVAL SERMON SERIES
Explore the transformative power of revival through the story of Jairus and his daughter. When life feels desperate and hope seems extinguished, the Life-Giver steps in to journey alongside us. Discover how His presence brings comfort in the darkest valleys and how the promise of resurrection turns every ending into an ellipsis. Whether you are seeking a fresh spark of life or walking through a season of grief, there is a promise of revival waiting for you.

Adult Education Series: Serving our Neighbors in Peril
Week 6: HomeFront
Leader: Cassie Jaeger
Learn More about HomeFront: https://http://www.homefrontnj.org
When a man asks Jesus about the way to attain eternal life, Jesus turns the question back to him. The man answers, quoting the scriptures, to love God and love your neighbor. “You have given the right answer,” says Jesus, “Do this, and you will live" (Luke 10:28). We at APC seek to follow Jesus' command to "do this" by ministering in creative ways to neighbors struggling with life’s most basic needs: food, housing, and health. Join us for a seven week adult education course to learn about some of our missions and ministries that serve these neighbors. We will meet Sundays 9:45-10:45 am in Schulte Hall, beginning January 4 with a biblical-theological overview by our pastors, followed each week with opportunities to learn about our APC food pantry, HomeFront, and the immigrant ministries of Interfaith-Rise.
Welcome to the Allentown Presbyterian Church! APC is located in Allentown New Jersey but we are blessed to have worshipers join us from around the world. We are a diverse community of Christians, united by our common love for God made known in Jesus Christ. Will you join us too?

Live Worship Replay | Homecoming | Dr. William Willimon
February 15, 2026 • Dr. William Willimon • Luke 15:11–24
Sermon Series: Revival
Scripture: Luke 15:11-24
Sermon: Homecoming
Guest Preacher: Dr. William Willimon
FAITHWORK ASSIGNMENT
Reflect on the idea that spiritual revival often begins not with a dramatic event, but simply when we come to our senses while far from God.

FAITHWORK ASSIGNMENT:
Jesus goes with us into our deepest pain and darkest valleys. Consider how His presence might change your perspective on a current struggle. Death is not a full stop but an ellipsis because of the resurrection. Reflect on how the promise of eternal life gives you hope for the future. Revival brings new vigor and life to places that seem dormant or dead. Identify what area of your heart God is calling to wake up right now.

Sermon Series: Revival
Scripture: 2 Kings 22: 1-2, 8-11b
Sermon: The Compass of Revival
Preacher: J.C. Fowler
Faith isn't a solo journey, and the Bible isn't a static book meant for a shelf. We dive into the historical validity of the New Testament and the danger of treating Scripture like a mere "verse dispenser." By looking at King Josiah’s visceral reaction to the rediscovered Law, we see how God’s Word serves as the primary catalyst for personal and communal change. Learn how to move from occasional reading to consistent, life-giving meditation on HIS truth.
"FAITHWORK" ASSIGNMENT
Identify the three most important or memorable points from the message to apply to your life. First, consider that the Bible acts as a compass rather than a GPS; it provides True North rather than specific turn-by-turn instructions. Reflect on how you seek HIS guidance during complex moments. Second, recognize that we do not drift toward clarity but instead toward chaos and selfishness without consistent truth. Think about which daily habits keep you anchored in HIS Word. Finally, remember that Scripture is communal and meant to be read with others to challenge and comfort the body of Christ. Identify who you are walking with to better understand HIS story for your life.
