The soldier’s breastplate was custom-made—molded to fit his chest and stomach and purposed to protect all the vital organs. The primary concern with the breastplate was the heart. It’s the same in the spiritual sense. Spiritually speaking, the heart is the control center of our life. It is the center of our thoughts, emotions, desires, and actions. When we say, “My heart is heavy”, we are saying that something in my life—thinking, feeling, actions—is weighing me down. When I say “I love you with all my heart”, I am saying that my whole being—my thoughts, emotions, desires, and actions—are all about you.
Proverbs 4:23
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
We are to guard our hearts with the breastplate of righteousness.

EPHESIANS 6:10-20
Paul wrote this letter to the Ephesian Christians around AD 62 from prison in Rome. The first three chapters of the book address theology, and the final three chapters explain how to put theology into practice.

The Battlefield - Part 2
November 12, 2023 • Ron Moore • Matthew 4:1–11, James 1:13, Romans 6:1–2, Hebrews 4:14–16, 1 John 4:4
The war has been won. Jesus won and we win. Now…the battles continue, and we must be battle-ready.
We have learned that the battle comes from three fronts: World. Flesh. Devil. In our temptations, one source may take the lead. It may be Satan taking the lead, the culture we live in enticing us, or the desires of the flesh. But all three are always involved in the battle. We learned from 1 Cor 10:13 that God will always give us what we need in every test and temptation.
Last time, we considered Genesis 3 where Satan's temptations came in the Garden. He led man to doubt God, become disillusioned with God, and finally, give into the desires of the flesh. In the Garden, Satan tempted man at his strongest.

The Battlefield - Part 1

After creating man, God graciously provided all the trees of the garden for food. However, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was prohibited. God said, “for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Gen. 3:17). The fruit was not poison. The tree offered man a choice to obey God or disobey him. This free will stemmed from God’s perfect love. Love cannot be demanded, forced, or coerced. Man is not artificially programmed. Love calls for a choice.

The Enemy
October 29, 2023 • Ron Moore • 1 John 4:4, 2 Corinthians 4:3–6, Ezekiel 28:12–19, Genesis 6:1–8, John 8:44
Every believer is involved in a spiritual battle. The enemy is real and intent on destroying us. But the believer is fighting from higher ground. Greater is the One who lives in us than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
We are involved in a six-part series focusing on our spiritual engagement. We are considering the enemy—his origin and character, the battleground—Satan’s art of temptation, and the battle gear—spiritual equipment for the battle.
Today we will consider the enemy. First, let’s set the framework. Following are four anchors for our study.
1. God is sovereign over all (Prov 21:1).
2. We have an enemy (1 Pet 5:8).
3. Jesus defeated the enemy at the cross (Col 2:15; Heb 2:14; 1 John 3:8).
4. All believers share in Christ’s victory over Satan (Col 1:13; 1 John 2:14).
