James addresses the passions within us which most of us think that this would means a positive passion. However, James is talking about the worldly passions within us that creates conflict. Our selfish passions are derived from pride. We are called to be a part of this world, but not to serve this world. There are two types of wisdom, true and false wisdom. False Wisdom removes God out of the equation, but True Wisdom recognizes that God is in control.
