Christ in Us: The Power to Love Ourselves

April 26, 2015

Jesus makes a staggering stament in Mark 12. When asked what was the greatest commandment of all, Jesus told His hearers that it was to love God with everything and to love our neighbor as ourselves. That little word "as" means "to the same degree or quality". Our ability to love others, i.e. to create a safe place and a safe home, is dependent upon how well we love ourselves. Loving ourselves is not self absorption, but a means to growing in our maturity in Christ so we can love others with the full, genuine love of God.

After a busy day of healing people, Jesus instructs His disciples to pray for laborers to be thrust into the harvest field. The Apostle Paul would pick up this them in 2 Corinthians 5 clarifying our message to be one of reconciliation. We may not be called to a foreign frontier, but we are called to cross the street. Christ in Us is the power to go, love others and demonstrate the supernatural power of God.

He is a person and because of Jesus Christ we can have a personal relationship with Holy Spirit. As we develop our fellowship with Holy Spirit we will feel His impact in two areas, our character development (Indwelling Spirit) and development for ministry & leadership (Empowering Spirit).
