Jesus & David

February 20, 2022 • Austin Seevers • 2 Samuel 7:16, 2 Samuel 7:12–13

One of the greatest truths in life is that people will let you down. In big ways or small ways, all of us will either be let down or let someone else down. That is one of the reasons why we need to be more gracious with people. King David was a "man after God's own heart," but he still let people down. God promised that David's house and his kingdom would endure forever, but David was not THE man. Jesus was. And Jesus will never let us down. So how should we live each day knowing that Jesus will never let us down? 1. Limit the voices we allow to speak into us. 2. Trust that Jesus is there, even when we don’t feel him. 3. Demonstrate our trust in Jesus by giving our hearts to him.

Kingdom of God: Leadership

February 13, 2022 • Jay Scott • 1 Samuel 16:7

What kind of kingdom is the Kingdom of God? When the Bible talks about "kingdoms" it's really talking about leaders who are worthy of your trust. The Kingdom of God is concerned most about the integrity of the heart.

Jesus & Moses

February 6, 2022 • Jay Scott • Deuteronomy 18:18, Exodus 14:13–14, Hebrews 3:1–6

In the book of Exodus, we read that God called Moses to lead His people out of slavery. Moses was "set apart" by God to lead His people (who were also "set apart") out of Egypt. As they were leaving Egypt, Pharaoh sent his army after them, which lead to one of the most well-known miracles in the Bible (the parting of the Red Sea). But the verse we need to highlight is this: "The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still" (Exodus 14:14). Moses reminded the Israelites that God is faithful and that He would fight for them. For us modern readers, we are constantly pointed to Jesus as we read the Bible and reminded of his faithfulness. He is the G.O.A.T.! So... what "battle" do you need Jesus to fight for you? Do you have confidence in him? Do you trust in him?

Holiness

All of us have had a moment in our lives where we've felt not quite good enough. For whatever reason, we just didn't feel we measured up -- either because we lacked talent, skill, experience or just simply confidence. As we read the Bible, it's made pretty clear that we aren't "good enough" to earn salvation, but Jesus is. And that's the difference. Our right relationship with God isn't about us, it's about Jesus.
