Run Your Race

Don't Give Up

October 17, 2021 • Jay Scott • Hebrews 12:1–3, John 16:33

Jesus wants us to run our race with perseverance [endurance], but it is easy to grow weary and lose heart. During our times of trial, we must always remember that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses and to throw off everything that hinders or entagles us [sin].

We must also remember the Jesus endured opposition for our sake -- so don't give up!

Hebrews 12:1 reminds us of three important truths: 1. Not Alone -- Now there are certainly times that we may feel alone, but we’re not! We’re surrounded by those who go with us and have gone before us. 2. Throw Off -- We can throw off the things in life that hinder us. We can trust them to Jesus’ care and his perfect and pleasing will. 3. Run with Perseverance -- We can run with perseverance the race that’s been marked out for us, knowing Jesus is with us.

Throw Off the Weight

October 3, 2021 • Jay Scott • Hebrews 12:1–2

Sometimes in life we try to lift far too much weight and while we might not notice the damaging effects it’s having on us now, we will sooner or later. Rest with Jesus

Like Noah, Don't Give Up!

September 26, 2021 • Austin Seevers • Genesis 8—9, Hebrews 11, Genesis 6:5

In a time when "every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil," Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. He walked faithfully with God. Though he was surrounded by people who disobeyed God and did not fully understand His plan for the future, Noah remained faithful and kept working. Noah didn't give up. 1. Don’t give up walking with Jesus when you are surrounded by people who have. 2. Don’t give up when the future is unclear. 3. Don’t give up when the work gets exhausting.
