December 8, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 12:2–21
The gospel is not only the source of true ministry to God, but also its motivation, which gives the power to serve, overcoming difficulties and determining the essence and direction of ministry. Whenever ministry is motivated by something other than the gospel, it is deprived of God's power and God's arrangement, creating many difficulties.
Gospel: The Source of Ministry
December 1, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 12:1–2
Ministry is an integral part of the Christian life. It is not just an opportunity for self-fulfillment for those who are especially active. Service is an expression of the life that God has born in the heart of the Christian. The gospel plays a vital role in how this life is put into practice. It becomes a conduit of God's power that makes us able to work tirelessly for Christ without expecting praise or grumbling. It always gives hope and motivation, making our ministry joyful regardless of external conditions.
Gospel: The Power to Triumph in Hardship
November 24, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 8:31–39
God made sure that those saved by His Son could have all the necessities of life and godliness. One of these necessities is to have the strength to overcome the hardship we face in life. Various experiences, difficulties in life, persecution, and direct attacks from the devil constitute the reality of believing people's lives on earth. To persevere through them and emerge victorious requires supernatural strength, which comes to us through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Gospel: the Foundation of Confidence in God
November 10, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 8:26–30
Introducing the theme of adoption, the Apostle Paul says that all who are in Christ, all who are born of the Holy Spirit, “all who are led by the Spirit of God, are children of God.”
Being born again is the result of the radical work of the Holy Spirit in the human heart, resulting in a new nature in us that carries God's DNA. It binds our inner world to God as children are bound to their parents. We belong to Him and we are part of His family.
In Jesus Christ, through adoption, we have a stronghold. We know for a fact that He, trusting in the Father, lived a wholesome life on earth, overcoming all the hardships and trials decreed for Him by the Father, and triumphantly entered into glory. This is what gives us confidence.
Gospel - the Source of Hope in Suffering
October 27, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 8:12–25
Those saved by Christ have a special blessing in that Jesus has made them truly children of God. Speaking of the results of the work of the gospel in the lives of Christians, the apostle emphasizes that as a result of their adoption by God, in Jesus Christ they are free from fear and blessed with a special hope that has a particular expression. This hope has to do with the inheritance we have in Christ and the glory that has become the primary goal of the great plan of redemption that God is carrying out in the universe.
Gospel - The Power to Fight Sin
October 20, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 5
The apostle Paul says that the gospel is power. This power is real not only in freeing man from the guilt of sin and eternal destruction, but also in giving us a new nature, a new, God-given life that points toward heaven and resists sin. That is why the real power to fight sin and overcome it is only in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What is the expression of this power and how does it work in practice? We will talk about this in the sermon.
The Essence of the Gospel – Reconciliation with God
October 13, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 5
Having justified man by redemption through faith that unites the soul to Jesus Christ, God accomplishes another very important purpose - He returns man to the original meaning for which he was created. In Jesus Christ, the saved soul finds reconciliation with God and gains access to the glory of the perfect person, the Creator and Ruler of the universe. This radically changes man's position, determining a new direction for his entire life.
The Essence of the Gospel – Justification
September 29, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 3:21–26
The apostle Paul devotes quite a large portion of his letter to describing the gospel. While a brief version of the gospel can be contained in a few sentences, its depth cannot be exhausted in all eternity. Paul touches on a few of the most significant elements of the gospel to help us see its nature and operation. Understanding the nature of the gospel is the foundation of the new, supernatural life of Christ's saved people.
The Necessity of the Gospel
September 22, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 1:18—3:19
The necessity of the gospel has to do primarily with the nature of human sinfulness and God's response to it. The apostle Paul vividly demonstrates that without the gospel, people have absolutely no chance of salvation. Human sinfulness is not just periodic wrong actions toward God or people, but it is the inner nature of opposition to God through self-assertion, self-satisfaction, and the resulting loss of sound thinking ability. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way out of this hopelessness.
Preeminence of the Gospel
September 8, 2024 • Alexey Kolomiytsev • Romans 1:16–17
Speaking of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the apostle Paul calls it “the power of God for salvation”. The gospel is much more than information. The gospel is power. The power of God. Power that actually works in the hearts of saved people. Do you know this power? Is it working in you? If so, how and in what ways is that power expressed? What fruit is the gospel bearing in your life?
These two verses of Romans became God's instrument of radical change in the life of Martin Luther as well as millions of others. They can be that tool for changing your life today.
