Jesus: The Son of God

Good Friday at Woodmen

Crucified, Mark 15:21-47

Good Friday • April 19, 2019 • Josh Lindstrom

Jesus Christ was crucified and took the penalty for the sins of the world upon himself. By his death we are offered access to God through faith. Ironically, it was a Roman centurion who after witnessing his death would confess, “Truly this man was the Son of God!” (Mark 15:39). Every one of us must recognize Jesus’ death on our behalf and acknowledge him as the Son of God who died in our place. 1. Jesus was crucified (vs. 21-32) 2. Jesus was forsaken (vs. 33-34) 3. Jesus was different (vs. 35-41) 4. Jesus was dead (vs. 42-47) SONGS Is He Worthy #7108951 by A Peterson and B Shive 2018 Jakedog Music Jesus We Love You #7030068 by H McClure, K Heiligenthal, and P McClure 2014 © Bethel Music Publishing How Deep The Father's Love For Us #1558110 by S Townend 1995 Thankyou Music None But Jesus #4726186 by B Fraser 2005 Hillsong Publishing Nothing But The Blood Of Jesus #4037473 by C Cymbala and R S Lowry 1992 Carol Joy Music and Word Music, LLC What A Beautiful Name #7068424 by B Fielding and B Ligertwood 2016 Hillsong Music Publishing

Good Friday Scriptural Reflections

April 20, 2019

These short Good Friday readings walk through the dark day of Christ’s death. We drew on elements of a Tenebrae service for these videos that were woven into our Good Friday gathering this year. The word "tenebrae" comes from the Latin, meaning "darkness." Tenebrae is an ancient Christian Good Friday tradition that makes use of gradually extinguishing of candles to symbolize the darkness surrounding Christ’s suffering and death on our behalf. Worshipers leave the service in silence to reflect on Christ's death and await the coming Resurrection.
