Jesus: The Wisdom & Power of God

Easter 2020 | 1 Corinthians 1:4–2:5

The Power of God, 1 Corinthians 1:18–2:5

April 12, 2020 • Josh Lindstrom

Over the last 40 years, the ministry of Woodmen Valley Chapel has endured not because its people were wiser, more powerful or more noble than others, but because of the righteousness, sanctification, and redemption of God. Our history and our future rest not in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. This Easter, we again call on all who would hear, regardless of failures or resumes, to confess Christ as Lord by faith and enter into new life. 1. Recognize our failure (vs. 18-21) 2. Acknowledge our desires (vs. 22-25) 3. Admit our need (vs. 26-29) 4. Trust in Jesus (vs. 30-31) Songs: Because He Lives #5760581 by J Lloyd 2010 Jonathan C. The Folly of the Cross, 1 Corinthians 1:18

April 10, 2020 • Josh Lindstrom

To die upon a Roman cross was the most brutal and humiliating death one could imagine. And yet, it was on a Roman cross that our Savior bled and died for us. Though folly to a fallen world, to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Today, the cross is seen everywhere. It adorns the tops of churches and people’s necks, but commonplace as it may be, it remains the enduring symbol of God’s magnificent love for us. The Mission is the Message, 1 Corinthians 1:4–17

April 5, 2020 • Josh Lindstrom

The apostle Paul is grateful for all God had done in the church of Corinth, as we too celebrate what God has done over 40 years of Woodmen. While the Corinthians were divided and quarreled among themselves, we rejoice that the ministry of Woodmen has never been about any one person or group of people, but a community of believers unified in the same mind and the same judgment proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. 1. We have much to be thankful for (vs. 4-7) 2. We have much to look forward to (vs. 8-9) 3.
