3 - His People Set Apart, Acts 11:1-30

Kirby Neely

May 7, 2017 • Kirby Neely

Strict Jewish Christians back in Jerusalem criticize Peter for having associated with one such as Cornelius. Peter gives testimony to what God had done and all fell silent and glorified God. Persecution in Jerusalem had caused a great number of believers to be scattered and a church began in a city called Antioch. It was in this city that the disciples were first called Christians. When a famine was to strike Jerusalem, the new church in Antioch was quick to respond to their need.

9 - His Grace Available, Acts 15:1-35

June 25, 2017 • Josh Lindstrom

As the gospel spread among the Gentiles, there was disagreement as to whether or not they were required to follow all of the Law of Moses. A conference was held in Jerusalem and it was determined that God’s grace was available to all and that no unnecessary restrictions should be placed on anyone. We too are always encouraged to pursue unity, even when we may disagree on minor points. 1. The Question: What does it take to be saved? (vs. 1-5) 2. The Response: We are saved through grace (vs. 6-11) 3. The Judgement: Do not be a stumbling block (vs. 12-21) 4. The Result: Unity in the church (vs. 22-35) Songs: How Great Thou Art #14181, 1941, 1953, 1955 S K. Hine, Renewed 1981 Manna Music, Inc. ARR UBP of Manna Music, Inc. 8 - His Cross Heavy, Acts 14:8-28

June 18, 2017 • Josh Lindstrom

After dramatically healing a crippled man in Lystra, Jews came down from Antioch and Iconium and incited the crowds to turn against Paul. They stoned him and, thinking he was dead, dragged him out of the city. Though he had been severely hurt, Paul was not discouraged and boldly returned to the very cities that had opposed him to encourage the faithful. Finishing their journey, and despite the persecution, they rejoiced in all that God had done. 1. What are you wanting to hear? (vs. 8-13) 2. Who are you serving? (vs. 14-18) 3. Where are you headed? (vs. 19-23) 4. How will you finish? 7 - His Voice is Heard, Acts 13:42-14:7

June 11, 2017 • Josh Lindstrom

When opposition broke out against them, Paul quotes Isaiah 49:6 and turns his attention towards the Gentiles. This would become his pattern, as he would first proclaim the gospel to the Jews and then to the Gentiles. Though the persecution would intensify, they would continue to preach the gospel. When we are faithful to share the gospel, we too should expect fruitfulness and opposition in our work and trust God for the strength to continue. 1. Curiosity & Jealousy (vs. 42-47) 2. Belief & Growth (vs. 48-49) 3. Persecution & Perseverance (vs. 50-52) 4. Opposition & Determination (14:1-3) 5.
