The Opposition is Real, Acts 17:1–9

January 5, 2020 • Kurt Birky

The Gospel has true power and the ministry of Paul and Silas draws many to faith. Unfortunately, the opposition is real too. The home of Jason is attacked, and he and some of the brothers are brought before the city authorities. The accusation is that, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also” (Acts 17:6). Little did they know the gospel would indeed change the world.

1. Following God’s call (v. 1)
2. The Good News is welcomed (vs. 2-4)
3. The Good News is threatening (vs. 5-8)
4. An abrupt end (vs. 9-10a)

Willing to Follow, Acts 21:1–16

March 29, 2020 • Josh Lindstrom

Though being repeatedly warned of the danger that awaits him in Jerusalem, the apostle Paul continues forward, “ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 21:13). Each of us is called to follow Jesus, but we do so not sure of where he may lead us. Might the Spirit of God strengthen us to follow him wherever he may lead and would we move forward confidently regardless of what is to come. 1. Paul was convinced (vs 22-24) 2. Others were not (Acts 21:1-6) 3. Following Jesus can be lonely (vs. 7-16) Songs: Yes I Will #7105442 by E Hoagland, J Smith & M Fieldes All Essential Music, Be Essential Songs, HBC Worship Music, Hickory Bill Doc, Jingram Music Publishing, So Essential Tunes & Upside Down Under O Praise The Name (Anástasis) #7037787 by B Hastings, D Ussher & M Sampson 2015 © Hillsong Music Publishing Lord I Need You #5925687 by D Carson, M Maher, C Nockels, J Reeves & K Stanfill 2011 http://worshiptogether.com songs, sixsteps Music, Sweater Weather Music, Valley Of Songs Music & Thankyou Music The Lord Is My Salvation #7063694 by N Nockels, K Getty, K Getty, and J Myrin 2016 © Getty Music Publishing & Sweater Weather Music

Teaching the Saints, Acts 20:17–38

March 22, 2020 • Josh Lindstrom

The book of Acts records much that was said and taught to unbelievers, but what might the apostle Paul have said to a group of followers of Jesus? Paul’s message in Acts 20:17-38 is the one example we have of a message Paul gave to a solely believing audience. Not surprisingly, it reads like many of his letters and encourages us to follow Paul’s example as we serve Christ. 1. Faithful in service (vs. 17-21) 2. Ready to suffer (vs. 22-24) 3. Careful to warn (vs. 25-31) 4. An example to follow (vs. 32-35) 5. The sorrow of separation (vs. 36-38) Songs: Call Upon The Lord #7051501 by C Brown & S Furtick 2015 © Be Essential Songs Faithful To The End #7054172 by B Johnson, H McClure, J Taylor & P McClure 2015 © Bethel Music Publishing Way Maker #7115744 by Osinachi Kalu Okoro Egbu 2016 Sinach Build My Life #7070345 by B Younker, K Martin, K Kable, M Redman & P Barrett 2016 © Said And Done Music, sixsteps Music, Thankyou Music, http://worshiptogether.com songs

Raising the Dead, Acts 20:1–16

March 15, 2020 • Josh Lindstrom

Even as the opposition against the apostle Paul increased, Paul did not shy away from the ministry he was called to. One evening while Paul taught long into the night, a man named Eutychus fell from a window and died. The apostle Paul miraculously raises Eutychus from the dead and continues on with his ministry. We need be reminded that though opposition may increase, the power of God is always stronger still. 1. A love for the church (vs. 1-3a) 2. A desire to help (vs. 3b-6) 3. The power of God (vs. 7-12) 4. Determined to go (vs. 13-16) Songs: This Is Amazing Grace #6333821 by J Farro, J Riddle & P Wickham 2012 Bethel Music, Seems Like Music, Sing My Songs, Phil Wickham Music & Warner Chappell Music God With Us (Torwalt) #7054539 by B Torwalt & K Torwalt 2015 © Capitol CMG Genesis In Christ Alone #3350395 by K Getty and S Townend 2001 Thankyou Music Stronger #5060810 by B Fielding and R Morgan 2007 Hillsong Publishing
