2 - Order & Authority, Titus 1:5-9

May 5, 2019 • Josh Lindstrom

The young churches in Crete lacked biblical leadership, so the apostle Paul encourages Titus to “appoint elders in every town” (Titus 1:5) and gives him a picture of the kinds of leaders he should be looking for. While not everybody will be called to serve in an official leadership role in the church, the qualities and characteristics of an elder should be the pursuit of us all.

1. The reason for Titus (v. 5)
2. Who is an elder? (vs. 6-9)
a. An example (vs. 6-8)
b. Able to teach (v. 9)

7 - Avoid & Learn, Titus 3:9-15

June 23, 2019 • Josh Lindstrom

While we would hope that all would respond to biblical correction in their lives, some, even after being duly warned, will persist in the error of our ways. We are to separate ourselves from those who stir up division and instead devote ourselves “to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need” (Titus 3:14). 1. What to avoid (vs. 9-11) 2. What to support (vs. 12-14) 3. 6 - Obedient & Ready, Titus 3:1-8

June 16, 2019 • Josh Lindstrom

Living godly lives does not preclude us from interacting with the world but, on the contrary, should encourage us “to be ready for every good work” (Titus 3:1). Recognizing what Christ has done for us, we seek to follow his example and have a positive and beneficial impact on those around us. 1. Our example (vs. 1-2) 2. Our past (v. 3) 3. Our salvation (vs. 4-7) 4. 5 - Grace & Training, Titus 2:11-15

June 9, 2019 • Josh Lindstrom

The life we are called to live in Christ is not one that will occur naturally to us. It is a gift of grace and requires a conscious decision “training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age” (Titus 2:12). As fellow recipients of his grace, we unabashedly encourage each other to the pattern of life he has called us to. 1. Grace has appeared (v. 11) 2. Train accordingly (vs. 12-13) a. Renounce sin (v. 12a) b. Live righteously (v. 12b) c. With joy (vs. 12c-13) 3. Always remember (v. 14) 4. Speak truth (v. 15) Songs: Great Things #7111321 by J Myrin and P Wickham Phil Wickham Music Follow You Anywhere #7123196 by B Younker, K Stanfill, J Ingram & P Wickham 2019 Kristian Stanfill Publishing Designee No Longer Slaves #7030123 by J D Helser & M Helser 2014 © Bethel Music Publishing Living Hope #7106807 by B Johnson & P Wickham Bethel Music Publishing
