Learning To Do Life Together

Kevin and Marisa Marvin

Meeting: @ Sundays per month from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Meeting place: 4150 E Sierra Madre Ave., Gilbert, AZ 85296 (Marvin's home) Description: Our meetings will include a meal. For our first meeting, we will kick things off with a potluck. Ongoing, we’ll rotate/share the food preparation responsibilities each time we meet.   Although most of what we do together will be consensus-driven, we will focus on learning to do life together:  praying for each other, caring for each other, and serving others identified by the group. The only requirement for the activities that we select is that the activity helps us pray/care for each other/others and/or that the activity helps us learn how to do life together.   Our group is open to individuals, couples, and entire families.   Email: kmmarvin@cox.net

Shifting Our Worlds Toward Love & Justice

Meeting Time: Wednesdays 7:00-8:00 p.m. February 21 – April 17 Meeting Type / Location: Zoom video A remarkable aspect of Jesus’ life and ministry was how he conveyed the truths of the kingdom of God. He often told stories. Jesus’ story telling (parables) enlightened people’s ability to see more clearly what God was up to in our world. This spring we will experience a conversation that uses Jesus’ method of storytelling -- doing so in a way that brings fresh, new insight into how we see the world. On this season of the podcast “Learning How to See” Brian McLaren dives into conversation with Gareth Higgins, a writer and speaker who works in peace building and violence reduction. Together, Brian and Gareth will invite us to explore the story patterns that can lead us towards — and away from — a more equitable and loving future. Each week we will privately listen to an episode of the podcast and then come together on Zoom to share thoughts and responses together.

How to Be (Un)Successful

Meeting Time: Mondays 7:00-8:00 PM February 26 – April 1 Meeting Type / Location: in-person @ WMC No matter what we achieve or how much we gain, “success” can always feel out of reach. In the midst of our anxious and exhausted culture, Jesus invites us to redefine success on his terms. In the Kingdom of God, success is not about what we have but who we are becoming. This small group video series based on Pete Portal’s book, How to be (Un)Successful, will help you explore true success, looking at the life and teachings of Jesus.
