Discovering Who You Really Are

Dirk Duhlstine

Day & Time:

Thursdays 6:30-8:00 PM

February 22 – April 25

Location:

In-person at Wonderful Mercy Church

This class brings positive transformation! We will learn how to develop deep roots with Jesus while we uncover truths about ourselves and grow our relationships with others at the same time.

Many of us avoid conflict in the name of Christianity, ignoring our anger, sadness, and fear; we even use God to run from God. In eight video sessions, Pete Scazzero shows us how to biblically integrate emotional health and the spiritual practice of slowing down and quieting our life to experience a firsthand relationship with Jesus.

Note: The book set Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Participant’s Pack by Pete Scazzero is required. (approx. $35; contact Dirk here if money is an issue)

Shifting Our Worlds Toward Love & Justice

Meeting Time: Wednesdays 7:00-8:00 p.m. February 21 – April 17 Meeting Type / Location: Zoom video A remarkable aspect of Jesus’ life and ministry was how he conveyed the truths of the kingdom of God. He often told stories. Jesus’ story telling (parables) enlightened people’s ability to see more clearly what God was up to in our world. This spring we will experience a conversation that uses Jesus’ method of storytelling -- doing so in a way that brings fresh, new insight into how we see the world. On this season of the podcast “Learning How to See” Brian McLaren dives into conversation with Gareth Higgins, a writer and speaker who works in peace building and violence reduction. Together, Brian and Gareth will invite us to explore the story patterns that can lead us towards — and away from — a more equitable and loving future. Each week we will privately listen to an episode of the podcast and then come together on Zoom to share thoughts and responses together.

How to Be (Un)Successful

Meeting Time: Mondays 7:00-8:00 PM February 26 – April 1 Meeting Type / Location: in-person @ WMC No matter what we achieve or how much we gain, “success” can always feel out of reach. In the midst of our anxious and exhausted culture, Jesus invites us to redefine success on his terms. In the Kingdom of God, success is not about what we have but who we are becoming. This small group video series based on Pete Portal’s book, How to be (Un)Successful, will help you explore true success, looking at the life and teachings of Jesus.
