Pilate

Join us for a Good Friday service as we kick off our new teaching series called, Encounters with Jesus. We’re going to look at the life of Pilate and his fascinating interaction with Jesus right before the crucifixion. Jesus called out to Pilate to make a decision on who he was and what he taught, and his story ends with this, “Then Pilate turned Jesus over to them to be crucified.” (John 19:16). So who was Pilate and what are the lessons we learn from his relationship with Jesus?
Mary Magdalene

She’s been accused of being a prostitute, and even being secretly married to Jesus; her name is mentioned more than any male follower of Jesus except Peter, James, and John. This week we explore the important role that women had in the early church through the encounter of Mary Magdalene with Jesus – the very first person to meet the risen Jesus!

Jesus makes the radical decision to call Matthew to follow him and leave behind a lucrative position that promises power and wealth for something far different and far more valuable. When the Pharisees see this group of misfits, they ask the question, “Why does he eat with such scum?” How might WMBC, how might you, model your interactions with people based on this encounter?
