Filled V “Breakthru w/Understanding” Filled V “From Understanding to boldness” Intro: Why are we not bold in our faith? Jesus taught but they couldn’t understand. Peter and John released *Act 4:23* When they were released, they went to their friends and reported what the chief priests and the elders had said to them. *Act 4:24* And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, *Act 4:25* who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit, “‘Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain? *Act 4:26* The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’— *Act 4:27* for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, *Act 4:28* to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. *Act 4:29* And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, *Act 4:30* while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” *Act 4:31* And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness Three things they figured out: * God is at work even when we cant see it * * *Act 4:27 *for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, * *Act 4:28 *to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. 1. The Disciples were in a season of confusion and doubt at the time of the crucifixion 2. They thought their world had come to an end (military leader) 3. They learned to to trust even through tough times *God provides and protects for His glory* 1. This is not about you! It is about Him and His will and plan that leads to His glory 2. “be prepared to give a defense of the Gospel” Do not worry about what you would say” Contradiction? 3. The story of Job gives a good example about who is in charge (Job 38) *The Spirit is Unleashed with this Understanding * 1. The mystery off God is revealed when understanding takes place. 2. when it clicks within us who the spirit is in our lives, we live with boldness.
