Values Determines Direction I “Destination”

*Luk 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.*

*Definition of Value*- core behavior. Not what you hope to be but what you are.

*2Sa 11:2* It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king's house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful. *2Sa 11:3* And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, “Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” *2Sa 11:4* So David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she had been purifying herself from her uncleanness.) Then she returned to her house. *2Sa 11:5* And the woman conceived, and she sent and told David, “I am pregnant.”

_*Value Determines Direction*_
*A.* What do you value? How do you know?
*B.* Your values are evaluated by three things:
*1. Time*
** *2. Resources*
** *3. Passion*

*_Direction Determines Destination_ *
*A. * The principle of the path (“it” happened - I am pregnant”)

_*How Do We Change Values?*_
*Recognize present values*
*A*. * 2Sa 12:13 * David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the LORD.” And Nathan said to David, “The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die.
*B.* Evaluate your time, resources and passion currently.

*Shift Focus*
*A. 2Sa 12:16 * David therefore sought God on behalf of the child. And David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground.

*Fast the thing you want to abandon*
*A.* You have to stop doing the things taking you down the path you do not want to be on
*B. *Sometimes that means creating impossible situations.

*Act on the focus you want to change to.*
*A. 2Sa 12:20 *Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes. And he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. He then went to his own house. And when he asked, they set food before him, and he ate.

_Conclusion:_
What you value will determine the direction and destination of your life. Can’t you see it already if you think back? Is this where you want to be? Good intentions don’t change destination. Values do.
