Amos 7:14-15 - Amos Faith That Works

 Amos wasn’t a professional prophet. As a shepherd and fig-picker, Amos was an unlikely person, called by God to give an unpopular message: calling religious people to repentance over how they treated others. Amos reminds us by his example and his message, that real faith manifests itself in obedience to God.

Hosea was called by God to live out a powerful object lesson: to marry a woman who would constantly leave him and be unfaithful to him, but Hosea was called to be faithful to her and pursue her, just as God does with us. Hosea’s life reminds us of the destructive power of sin in our lives, and the even greater power of God’s redeeming love.
