The book of Ezra is an inspiring story about the people of God rebuilding the Temple, and rebuilding their lives, after a significant tragedy. After decades in exile under a harsh, foreign king, Israel had begun to lose hope. God sent a prophet named Jeremiah to confront Israel with the seriousness of their sin, but to also show them that hope was on the horizon. As the book of Ezra begins, the Bible tells us that that important promise of restoration was finally coming true. Today, we can find ourselves in the story of Ezra. Our lives have been turned upside down this past year, but we know that God is changing hearts, opening doors, and giving us the chance to rebuild.
