Then he takes it one step further to say we should love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. These are two of the hardest teachings Jesus gives us. That means every part of our life, whether private or public, should be available to God. And every time we encounter God in worship, prayer or Bible study, it's an opportunity to be transformed into a better image of Jesus.

The Apostle John describes Jesus as full of grace and truth. What does this mean for followers of Jesus? First, Jesus is kind and patient. He extends his love and gives his grace freely. At the same time, Jesus holds us to a high standard and doesn't hold back from showing us exactly what God requires. Jesus perfectly balances both grace and truth, and as disciples of Jesus, we need to take both of those seriously.
