Today we’re exploring chapter 5 where we find the practical application of salvation by faith in Christ. Now that I’m saved by faith, how do I deal with the still apparent effects of living with sinful desires and failures in a godless culture of temptation? Paul will underscore that there is no set of rules or religious guidelines, an external force of law, to keep us in God’s will. Rather, we’ve been given the inner discipline of God (Holy Spirit), which is far better than any outer discipline of man-made rules!

Help to Hold Onto

We’re closing our study with Chapter 6 where we continue in the practical application of salvation by faith in Christ. Because I’m saved by Christ, “How to I find my place” and become apart of this new family of God and how do we stay unified as people when it’s easy to become divided? Paul will take time to encourage & instruct the believers regarding the purpose of the Body of Christ (Church) and offer “help they should hold on to.”

Implications for the Child of God

We’re exploring chapter 4 which builds upon this doctrinal truth of being a child of God and underscoring the great privileges we have as well as the great responsibility that comes with it. This chapter really speaks about legalistic Christianity and the efforts of man once we’re saved by faith as we’re trying to earn favor with God by adding to the work of salvation that has already been given. As we move through Galatians, these next 3 chapters help us to understand “I’m saved – Now what?!?!”

Defining the Work of Salvation

Today in chapter 3, Paul focuses in on speaking about salvation not sanctification. Not necessarily the response after being saved, which will come in chapters 5-6. He’s underscoring the work of salvation, not the result of salvation and important distinction. This is the critical chapter that teaches us how to answer the question “How do I know I’m saved?”
