Covetousness is the greedy desire for more that never knows the freedom, peace, and joy of simply saying, “I have enough.” Sometimes it is driven by a sense of injustice. Other times is fueled by an ever expanding appetite for pleasure. Often it is the harried press of worry that keeps us grasping for more. Whatever the type of greed there is only one way to deal with it: listen to Jesus. This will be our goal today.

The demands of Christian discipleship are absolute and unavoidable. If you are going to say, “yes,” to Jesus you must, in a very real way, say, “no,” to everyone and everything else. No person and no possession can be of more value or importance to you than Jesus. Short of this “all in” commitment, you cannot be a disciple of Jesus. You do not make that sort of commitment without first sitting down and counting the cost. We will be doing that today.
The Narrow Door to the Kingdom of God

As Jesus nears Jerusalem for the final time, and the crowds swell around Him, Jesus proclaims what the Kingdom of God is like. Entry to the Kingdom of God will be different than many around Jesus expect. Many who expect to be there will not be, even though people will be brought in from all corners of the world.
