Psalm 84 celebrates the joy of being in God's dwelling place and even the joy of traveling there. Why such joy? The tabernacle and later the temple were the place to go to be made right with God, the place toward which to pray, the place to enjoy worship with God’s people, and the place to rejoice in God’s presence, beholding his glory. All of this we now have supremely in Jesus, in whom God came and tabernacled among us (John 1:14), Jesus, who came as the true and greater temple (John 2:19-22, Matthew 12:6).
To sing this psalm, we wrote an original paraphrase to the melody of the Sussex carol.
