Psalm 89 is a community lament and an exercise in hope. The worshipers remember God's steadfast love and faithfulness in his covenant with David, while at the same time lamenting their current plight. Psalm 89 closes Book III of the Psalms with prayer and expectation that God will display his steadfast love and faithfulness through his anointed King, a prayer that has been, is being, and will be answered in Christ Jesus.
