Yellow Belt Techniques

Chinese Sword A

Attack: R Roundhouse Punch  Counter: 1: Right step to 12:00, Right Inward Block inside of Attacker’s arm 2: Right Downward Chop to the Attacker’s neck or collarbone  3: Drop into soft-bow, Palm Strike to Attacker’s face 

Chinese Sword B

Attack: Left Straight Punch Counter: 1: Step forward to outside of attacker with right foot into soft bow 2: Inward block with right hand pivoting into fighting horse 3: Circle right hand around to ridge hand into the back of the neck and grab 4: Dragon step backwards to 6 o'clock with right foot and unwind bringing attacker to the ground

Delayed Sword

Attack: Left punch followed by a right punch Counter: 1: Step back with left leg into cat stance 2: Downward block with right hand, guard with left hand 3: As right punch comes in, throw front snap kick with right leg 4: Downward parry block using the left hand 5: With right hand cupped as though holding water, circle under and throw a chop to the throat ending in horse stance.

Breaking the Spear

Attack: Right straight punch Counter: 1: Step out to about 11 O'Clock with right foot 2: Parry Block with left hand 3: Inward outward block with right hand into mantis hook 4: Palm press elbow with left hand to break the arm or palm press upper arm to control opponent.

Striking Knee

Attack: Two handed grab or push Counter: 1: Step back with right leg 2: Clear opponents hands with counter grab 3: Bring knee up to solar plexus 4: Side driving knife edge kick to the shin scraping downward 5: Hook with left hand and right elbow smash twisting into horse stance 6: Bring right hand back into a back knuckle to the nose 7: Palm press shove with left hand to push opponent away

Twisting Talon

Attack: left hand grab to the right wrist Counter: 1: Rotate wrist inward and upward with a snapping motion 2: Hook right hand down to grab opponents left hand 3: Step back with left leg into soft bow and turn into reverse soft bow 4: Heel kick with right foot, let go of opponent and cover out

Returning Dragon

Attack: Direct left hand grab to right shoulder Counter: 1: Trap with right hand and step back into fighting horse stance with left leg 2: Circle ridge hand block into opponents left arm with your left arm 3: Hook with left hand and turn into rear soft bow 4: Chamber right leg and rear kick into solar plexus or floating rib 5: Chamber and side driving knife edge kick down the shin or to your opponent’s most forward knee

Evasion

Attack: Over the head hammer fist or overhead attack with a stick or weapon Counter: 1:      Step to 10 or 11 O’clock with left foot and parry block with left hand 2:      Inward and outward hammer block with right hand 3:      C-Step right foot bringing feet together 4:      Chamber right foot and side driving knife edge kick to opponents leading knee
