9 | Meekness and Rest

March 26, 2023 • Mark Helvadjian • Matthew 11:28–30, Luke 11:46, Romans 7:6

When we talk about the burdens we carry, we often think about those external circumstances which weigh us down such as financial worries or concerns over loved ones. But when Jesus offers to take these and ‘give us rest’ he isn’t just talking about external types, he is also inviting us to lay down those internal burdens we carry. Looking at Chapter 9 of ‘Pursuit of God’ by A.W Tozer, we look at Matthew 11 and unpack what these internal burdens are and how we can give them to Jesus.

But do we ever stop to think about the essence and source of our faith? As we continue in our ‘Pursuit’ series, looking at the book ‘The Pursuit of God’ by A.W Tozer, we arrive at Chapter 7 where Tozer unpacks his statement ‘'Faith is the gaze of a soul upon a saving God.'
