(1 Samuel 17:17-24 csb) One day Jesse had told his son David, “Take this half-bushel of roasted grain along with these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp. 18 Also take these ten portions of cheese to the field commander. Check on the well-being of your brothers and bring a confirmation from them. 19 They are with Saul and all the men of Israel in the Valley of Elah fighting with the Philistines.” So David got up early in the morning, left the flock with someone to keep it, loaded up, and set out as Jesse had charged him. He arrived at the perimeter of the camp as the army was marching out to its battle formation shouting their battle cry. 21 Israel and the Philistines lined up in battle formation facing each other. 22 David left his supplies in the care of the quartermaster and ran to the battle line. When he arrived, he asked his brothers how they were. 23 While he was speaking with them, suddenly the champion named Goliath, the Philistine from Gath, came forward from the Philistine battle line and shouted his usual words, which David heard. 24 When all the Israelite men saw Goliath, they retreated from him terrified.
(1 Samuel 17:34-37 csb) David answered Saul, “Your servant has been tending his father’s sheep. Whenever a lion or a bear came and carried off a lamb from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it down, and rescued the lamb from its mouth. If it reared up against me, I would grab it by its fur,[g] strike it down, and kill it. 36 Your servant has killed lions and bears; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37 Then David said, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
It would have been easy to begrudge his father. He had already written him off as a viable candidate for king.
1. A defined *destiny doesn’t negate our *responsibility to heed *direction.
(1 Samuel 17:19b csb) So David got up early in the morning, left the flock with someone to keep it, loaded up, and set out as Jesse had charged him.
2. A season of *preparation will always precede a moment of *progress.
(1 Samuel 17:34-35 csb) “Your servant has been tending his father’s sheep. Whenever a lion or a bear came and carried off a lamb from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it down, and rescued the lamb from its mouth. If it reared up against me, I would grab it by its fur, strike it down, and kill it.
3. Bringing God *glory must be the lynchpin of our *ambition.
(1 Samuel 17:36-37) Your servant has killed lions and bears; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, for he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37 Then David said, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”

Exodus 12:13 The blood on the houses where you are staying will be a distinguishing mark for you; when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will be among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
Exodus 12:23 When the Lord passes through to strike Egypt and sees the blood on the lintel and the two doorposts, he will pass over the door and not let the destroyer enter your houses to strike you.
**Points**
a) One of the Enemy’s Primary Strategies is to Steal Peace from the People in Your Home

b) Though the Enemy sees us as Targets, God sees us as His Own, Marked and Set Apart
Exodus 12:13(b) when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No plague will be among you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
c) Satan’s Schemes Fall Flat when Faced with the Blood of Jesus
Ministry Time:
1 John 2:1-2: 1 My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the righteous one. 2 He himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.
"Planted in Peace"
October 13, 2024 • Pastor Chad Hunt • Psalm 1:1–3
1 How happy is the one who does not
walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers!
2 Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
POINTS:
a) The *Absence of *Peace will always Result in the *Absence of *Happiness
Psalms 1:1 How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers!
b) Listening to the Wrong *People will *Rob you of Your *Peace
2. Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.
c) God’s *Word is the Only *Source of *Supernatural Peace
3. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
d) A Person of *Peace will always *Prosper, Even in *Painful Times
